VOLLEYBALL TAKES ON HOUSTON AND TEMPLE IN WEEK TWO OF CONFERENCE PLAY
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University volleyball team returns to action this week with a pair of matchups. The Green Wave open their week with a home contest against Houston on Wednesday and a road matchup at Temple on Friday.
Tulane meets Houston for the first time this season after the Wave took both from the Cougars last year. Although Tulane doesn’t not hold the overall advantage in the series with Houston (18-34.) head coach Jim Barnes has a 6-5 record against the Cougars since his time Uptown.
Tulane and Wichita State meet for the first time this season. The Wave took both matches last season. Tulane holds a 4-3 advantage in the series all-time. Against Tulsa, Tulane is 18-17 all-time and 8-6 at home. Tulane was picked fourth in 2021 American Athletic Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll, returning nearly the entire roster from the spring 2021 season. While the two competitors this weekend to finish eighth (WSU) and ninth (Tulsa) in the league. Tulane has an all-time record of 5-6 against Temple. The teams did not meet in the 2021 spring COVID season.

First Serve • Lexie Douglas is 25 kills from breaking into the top 10 in career kills list at Tulane. • Douglas is 111 attacks away from moving into fourth on the all-time career attacks list at Tulane. • Douglas was one of five unanimous pre-season selections across the conference. • Tulane owns the AAC second best hitting percentage at .235 and increase of .009 since conference play began. • Freshman Urquhart lead the AAC in aces per set at .55 and total aces with 26. • Tulane holds three places on the AAC’s top 10 leaderboard in hitting percentage in Davis, Dinkins and Yvette Burcescu. • Dinkins sits at ninth in school history in block assists with 335, she is one away from knocking assistant coach Sarah Strasner out of the top five. • Taylor Henigsman is ninth in program history in assists at 1,889. • Urquhart is seventh in the AAC in total kills with 136. • Urquhart and Henigsman each have three double doubles this season.
