FUNICULAR Travel through time on the historic funicular. Starting in the Lower Town, glide through the Venetian Walls to Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe in the Upper Town. Stroll through the cobbled streets to the second funicular, taking you to San Vigilio Hill for breathtaking views over Bergamo.

ACCADEMIA CARRARA A spectacular 18th century building that hosts the works of great masters such as Lotto, Botticelli, Tiziano, Canaletto, Hayez, Mantegna and Raffaello. To time travel back to the present day, just cross the square and enter the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (GAMeC).

VENETIAN WALLS Nominated as UNESCO World Heritage, the 5 km wall and its 4 majestic entrance gates make the Upper Town a unique part of the world. Walk around the walls to get a spectacular view stretching from the Appenines all the way to Milan.

PIAZZA VECCHIA Here you can revive Bergamo’s history. Palazzo della Ragione, the Civic Tower, S.Maria Maggiore Basilica, the Cathedral and the Colleoni Chapel compose the stunning quintet surrounding Piazza Vecchia. A square that according to Le Corbusier is “perfect, no need to touch a stone”.
