San Primo, Palanzone and the Corni di Canzo are the highest summits in this mountain peninsula in the province of Como. Nestled between the two branches of the lake, the eastern looking towards Lecco and the other towards Como, the mountains that form the “Triangolo Lariano” (from the latin lame of the Lake) are enjoyable for both hikers and cyclists. Loved by the latter for the strenuous climbs up Ghisallo and the Sormano wall, but also by hikers for the trails that lead to the top, where they can admire incredible views of the other Alpine mountains and the lake.
Long, narrow, luxuriantly green valleys follow the course of the rivers and are dominated by Resegone, Grigna and Grignetta, their peaks and breath - taking rocky walls home to mountaineering in Lombardy, their beauty reflected in the lake. The Lecco Prealpi offer an all-round mountain experience: family-friendly walks through fields and mountain pastures, strenuous hikes taking several days with sleepovers in mountain refuges, plus the adrenalin rush of activities such as crag climbing, downhill or long mountain bike trips in close contact with the Alpine flora and fauna. Experience the emotion of the peaks.
The beating heart of the Alps. Summits reaching up to over 3000 metres, glaciers, the Stelvio National Park and the many nature reserves. The mountains in Valtellina are firm favourites with families, offering exciting excursions suitable for everyone, plus hikes taking several days for more expert walkers, with the characteristic mountain refuges providing somewhere to sleep and a chance to enjoy local cuisine. The perfect choice for those who love to pedal up slopes that have written the history of cycling, and also for those who want to feel the rush of adrenalin that comes with off-road trails. A holiday in these mountains will earn a place in anybody’s heart.
From walks for the whole family to more strenuous hikes, plus cliffs and walls for climbers and mountaineers, uphill and downhill routes both on and off road for cyclists and mountain bikers. And there is more: hang-gliding, rafting, canyoning and adventure parks for adults and children who want a burst of adrenalin. Sports and lots of outdoor activities, along trails, in meadows and natural protected environments, where the lire in the mountains can be enjoyed to the full. The Lombardy Alps and Pre-alps are ideal for those wanting an activity holiday that also offers interesting idea for finding out about local culture and traditions in mountain villages or enjoying wonderful experiences in mountain refuges, welcoming, cosy places that meet visitors' every needs: a chance to relax and enjoy good food.
