Itsaslur Greenway and Punta Lucero
Walking up high
You will enjoy a unique view of the mouth of the estuary if you go up to the upper walkway of the Bizkaia Bridge, at a height of 45 m.
A symbol of the industrial era in which it was built, at the end of the 19th century, the Bizkaia Bridge is located at the end of the mouth of the estuary, linking Portugalete and Las Arenas (Getxo). Its construction, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, was precisely due to the needs of the new bourgeoisie and the incipient tourists of the time, visitors to the spas on both sides of the river. In 2006, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
