Lydon Parnill resides at Alfred Minto House, a residential service that provides high levels of supervision and support for men with mental health diagnosis and/or personality disorder.
I started getting ill when I was eight years old. I used to hear voices and self harm all the time. I was bullied at school by the other kids and from a young age, I lived in a kid’s home, away from my family. When I was 21 years old, I started to drink and my life went downhill from there. I was in prison and doing crime. I was in a dark place at the time, my life was everywhere. I was living at Wells Road in a hospital for my illness and the staff referred me to Alfred Minto House. I came to Turning Point because I had a drinking illness, hearing voices and self harming. I had mental health problems.

My first day at Alfred Minto House, I was feeling scared until the staff welcomed me into the house.
I felt better in myself after a week or two because the staff worked with me and provided me with support.
The staff was very helpful, caring and supportive towards me. They spoke to me whenever I was worried about anything; I really enjoy talking to them. I felt better in myself after a week or two because the staff worked with me and provided me with support. The support is five stars! I would give the staff a pay rise for all the hard work they do for me.
My life at Turning Point is out of this world and we do a lot of activities to help each other.
Since I’ve come to Turning Point, I feel like I’m part of a real family again. I feel alive again.
We are like a real family and this helps me in a big way because I never had a real family. Since I’ve come to Turning Point, I feel like I’m part of a real family again. I feel alive again. A big thank you to staff and Turning Point for making my dream come true because I’ve always wanted to go down to a mine. Staff at Alfred Minto took me on a trip to an underground mine and I really enjoyed it.

There have been opportunities for me and other service users at Alfred Minto House because I’ve been a service user representative for six years. I’ve been there for service users through both the hard times and fun times. I feel I have given back to the service and others. Being a service user representative, I get to go to meetings around the UK and I bring back with me, what I’ve learnt and share it with all the service users at Alfred Minto House so we can make it great for everyone.
For me, Turning Point means offering help, care and support in a big way.
Turning Point service is out of this world.
It’s a great place to live. It’s the best. Turning Point service is out of this world. Thank you to everyone in the service.
My advice for people who are struggling is to get the help they need and listen to staff who are trying to help. When you move into Turning Point, staff work hard and we all work together to make you feel welcomed and at home. You will meet new friends and become a real family where you can get help with your illness.

The future is so great for me. In September, I proposed to my girlfriend with a ring in Alfred Minto House garden and in two to three years, I will marry my fiancĂŠe. I will be living my life again, so thank you Turning Point for helping me. A big thank you to the staff for caring and supporting me and thank you to me as I got my life back!
