Innovation pedagogy with CDIO Our pedagogical ideology emphasizes applying, producing and using information for creating new knowledge and innovations. We operate together with working life and industry to learn, develop and carry out research in different environments. We want our students to take an active role in their learning process. We refer to all of this as innovation pedagogy.

Excellence In Action Today’s work environment values an entrepreneurial attitude. Our students learn this entrepreneurial attitude and skills in various learning environments such as: Support Centres, student-owned co-operatives and working life projects.

We constantly evaluate and develop our learning and teaching activities using the international CDIO approach. The CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) approach provides us with tools and guidelines to answer the requirements of working life. Applying innovation pedagogy together with CDIO means studying that is strongly working life-oriented. For students, project work provides working life competencies and valuable contacts. For companies, the projects offer possibilities to make use of the applied research conducted by Turku University of Applied Sciences.

Internationalisation Internationalisation is an essential part of our studies. If a student wishes to complete an exchange period abroad, there are several partner universities all over the world to choose from. Many foreign students come to Finland for a shorter exchange period, but also to complete a whole degree. Exchange students typically study in our international semesters. Faculty of Business, ICT and Chemical Engineering offers a variety of courses in English in all the degree programmes. We provide incoming exchange students with high quality services to support them during the exchange period.
