The Optical YS Converter revolutionizes underwater photography. SEA&SEA have developed the world's first Optical YS Converter for SLR housings which converts the camera s hot-shoe TTL signal into an LED light TTL signal. Up to now, slave strobes have been triggered by the camera's built-in flash and because of this, flash interval time is totally dependent on how long it takes the camera s flash to recycle. Other drawbacks are that automatic exposure is not so accurate and light reflections inside the housing from the camera's built-in flash can adversely affect image quality.Though external YS converters provide quick strobe recycle time and accurate TTL automatic exposure, they are cumbersome in use and conventional sync cables can be susceptible to water damage.The new Optical YS Converter solves all these problems! By simply sliding onto the camera's hot-shoe, TTL and manual flash modes can be selected from the housing and as a conventional sync cable is not used, the risk of water damage is minimized. Because the strobe is not triggered by the camera's built-in flash, it fires and recycles quickly (in accordance with its specifications) ready to fire again when needed. Above all, the Optical YS Converter's TTL automatic exposure accuracy is phenomenal! The Optical YS Converter is tailored to each compatible camera's specific TTL exposure table and power is provided by two AAA batteries, economical and good for the environment.Future compatible housings will be designed and developed with precision of operation and ease of use foremost in mind to provide the best results possible.

Powered by only four AA batteries, the YS-D1 offers a maximum light output of Guide Number 32 Compared to the YS-110α, the YS-D1 is 1EV more powerful, 50g (1.8oz) lighter and 10% smaller. Not only is the YS-D1 suitable for macro photography, but also is robust enough for wide-angle photography. it is also ideal for macro photography which requires delicate light level control. The strobe s guide number can be reduced to 1. Highly versatile, the YS-D1 oﬀers more automatic and manual control over lighting to get that perfect exposure.

Equipped with SEA&SEA’s new slave TTL system called “DS-TTL Ⅱ” Revising the algorithms used for the DS-TTL system, the YS-D1 employs a totally new slave TTL system. The strobe can adjust the interval between the pre ﬂash and the primary ﬂash in order to be compatible with a wide-variety of cameras, if not all, on the market today. The strobe is equipped with DS-TTL Ⅱ mode which is more responsive, more precise and more reliable. The DS-TTL Ⅱ enables a variety of strobe sync photography such as slave TTL and slave manual (11 steps) with compact or digital SLR cameras. When used with a digital SLR camera in housing, the strobe can also be connected with a conventional sync cord and through a YS Converter for TTL strobe photography.

The YS-D1 is the world’s first slave TTL strobe equipped with an exposure compensation (EV) control function. By controlling the actual ﬂash light level, the strobe realizes accurate exposure compensation with EV value. Regardless of a compact or a SLR camera, you can achieve any desired exposure compensation. However, many TTL systems are not reliable. The YS-D1 s DS-TTL exposure compensation function allows users to adjust the light level in TTL mode (-1.5EV, -1EV, -0.7EV, -0.3EV, +-0EV, +0.3EV, +0.7EV, +1EV, +1.5EV).

Two accessory diffusers

In macro photography when a wide beam is not necessary, no diffuser should be attached. For an even strong circular 100x100 light output is desired, mount the Diffuser 100. The YS-D1 is equipped with a function that automatically switches modes between slave and conventional sync cord or vice versa The YS-D1 will auto-sense when a sync cord is connected, the slave ON/OFF switch will no longer be active. Simple controls and conﬁguration enables easy operation. The light level control ratchets/clicks to aid in setting and operation.

With the conventional YS adaptor, the strobe can be moved only upward and downward. However, with the Ball Mount, the strobe can be moved in a variety of angles.

You can use the YS-02 as a manual slave strobe with the guide number control function, which can set the light level to any of ten levels. Accurate pictures that follow the photographer's intentions can be taken while the light level is adjusted with the guide number controller. The YS-02 is equipped with a pre-flash cancel mode (*1) that is compatible with a wide range of digital cameras with a pre-flash. Power comes from four AA batteries for a powerful and long-lasting strobe, so you can enjoy taking pictures all day long without having to recharge the batteries. The recycle time takes about two seconds with nickel-metal hydride batteries (2700 mAh) for stress-free continuous shooting. The gear mechanism is now similar to MDX series housings. Perfect gear mesh enables accurate and quick zooming and focusing.

Camera Quick Shoe for easy mounting and removal of the camera. Mounting the camera becomes a breeze. You need only to slide the camera quick shoe into the slot, up to the designated position. There is almost no need for complicated position and gear alignments so even beginners can easily mount a camera.

MDX-X10 is an ergonomically designed and precision machined underwater housing made from solid block aluminum alloy.The housing is compact and has a small internal volume reducing excess buoyancy. By inserting the Fiber-optic Cable into the housing connector, an external strobe will be optically connected to the camera’s built-in flash enabling full-featured strobe photography and creative lighting expression. While mounted inside the housing, the camera flash can be activated or disabled with the flash control button and disablement lever. With the Screw mount for SA8 M10 Fixed Ball Base (#22130), various lighting options are possible.

Port can be replaced without opening the housing

Compatible with new Optical YS Converter/N1 for MDX housing (#50126) which converts the camera’s TTL signal to a light signal. Both TTL and manual strobe photography is possible using a Fiber-Optic Cable Ⅱ.

Port lock can be now activated from outside the housing. The housing is also equipped with a ‘lens-lock release’ button which allows the lens to be replaced without opening the housing. The port lock can also be activated from inside like previous SEA&SEA housings.

* Fiber-Optic Cable Ⅱ is required when using the Optical YS Converter.

* You may encounter some difficulties to access the delete button function if VF45 1.2x is installed on the housing. To avoid this problem, manufacturer suggests using VF180 1.2x instead.

The unique structure of the Double Ball Arms was designed with the latest structural analysis software. The Double Ball Arms is available in three lengths, namely, short, medium, and long.
