Each person has a unique facial structure and every diver experiences either some level of discomfort, or “pressure” and “squeeze” while wearing a typical mask underwater. TUSA engineers wanted to solve these problems and spent several years analyzing mask fit, facial bone structure and mouth movement. The result is Freedom Technology, a set of revolutionary new mask features which deliver superior fit, comfort and increased performance.

Freedom Dry Dimpled Skirt: Key areas around the forehead and cheek bones have been designed with dimples which combine to increase the skirt’s softness, flexibility and skin surface contact. This also greatly reduces leakage and enhances comfort. Stability Ridges: A s water pressure increases a mask will compress inwards toward the face often causing further leakage. Areas under the cheek bones have been reinforced with stability ridges to minimize this compression maintaining ideal skin surface contact. Varied Silicone Thickness: W hen in usage, a regulator or snorkel mouthpiece can distort areas of the nose pocket and mouth section causing leakage and discomfort.

Standard glass lenses can reflect up to 10% of available light reducing vision underwater. TUSA’s Anti-Reflective (A/R) Lens Treatment decreases internal and external reflected light. This reduction increases light transmission up to 95% resulting in significantly enhanced color, clarity, contrast and better overall vision underwater.

CRYSTALVIEW OPTICAL GLASS

TUSA’s CrystalView optical glass lenses provide superior clarity, color and transmission of light over standard glass lenses used by the competition. Up to 15% of available light can be lost with a standard glass lens due to impurities and reflectivity. The TUSA mask features a round mold, special cross-sectionally shaped skirt fitting line (the outer end part of the silicone skirt touching the face) and molded by rolling the edge to the outside. When the skirt portion of the mask touches the face, the conventional mask is fitted with thin edge lines (Fig. 1), whereas with the TUSA mask, round-edge skirt is fitted on the face (Fig. 2), resulting in a soft-fit suppressing pressure and reducing creasing left on the face. This “planar fit, instead of linear fit” silicone skirt maintains a great seal and unprecedented comfort.

COMFORT SWIVEL The Comfort Swivel adapter makes it possible to slip the mask strap into the slit with no hassles. The twopart construction allows the snorkel to rotate and can be attached in a horizontal position. 1. This mechanism allows the snorkel to swivel to the optimum angle to reduce tension and stress for enhanced comfort and performance (Fig. 2) as compared to earlier models (Fig. 3). 2. Adjustments are made by sliding the adaptor’s position forward or backward - a forward or rearward position may be selected (Fig. 4).

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH WITH TOKYO INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY TUSA R&D team conducted collaborative research on propulsion evaluation with the Tokyo Institute of Technology during the fin development. Analysis of information on fins such as fin shape, flexural hardness (static load), rebound resilience (dynamic flexibility), in addition to diverâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s physique (body shape) and joint movement (swimming direction) was studied. The SF - 22 Solla fin was the result of persistant scientific evaluation tests such as swimming speed, thrust, propulsion efficiency, and joint torque.

1ST STAGE DRY AMBIENT PRESSURE CHAMBER The dry ambient pressure chamber on the R-700 prevents water contact with the diaphragm and spring maximizing performance, at any depth, in cold water conditions below 50° F / 10° C.

2ND STAGE

IDEAL FOR COLD WATER ENVIRONMENTS The R-700 is engineered for cold water diving. It features a ribbed top cap section that acts like a radiator to increase the surface area for heat transfer. This design allows warming of the critical internal first stage parts that can freeze due to the gas pressure drops and low temperatures.

PNEUMATICALLY BALANCED SYSTEM The S-90 second stage is a pneumatically balanced design. A small chamber positioned at the end of the poppet assembly traps air and forces the poppet back against the intermediate pressure orifice. This provides decreased inhalation resistance and increases smooth breathing in all conditions.

The S-90 is equipped with a built-in Venturi adjustment lever. Two (2) positions are selectable by the diver. Use Surface or the minimum setting when entering the water or on the surface, reducing the sensitivity and possible free flow of the second stage. Use the Dive or maximum setting for maximum air flow during the dive.

Two (2) high flow low pressure ports are available on the R-700 in addition to two (2) standard LP ports and two (2) HP ports. The high flow ports are positioned near the diaphragm and offer up to a 15% increase in air flow.
