A new strobe designed and built to fulfill every underwater photographer’s demands. The most versatile and highest performing strobe SEA&SEA has manufactured in its 40 year history.

Drawing inspiration from its highly regarded brethren such as the YS-50, YS-120, YS-250Pro and YS-110α.

The YS-D1 sets a new standard for underwater strobes. From subtle light output as low as guide number 1 to a maximum power of guide number 32, control of underwater lighting has become effortless with the YS-D1. The strobe is compatible with both state-of-the-art digital SLR cameras and digital point-and-shoots.

Equipped with SEA&SEA’s new slave TTL system called “DS-TTL ll”.

The YS-D1 provides reliable and stable automatic exposures for a variety of digital cameras with built-in flash and pre-flash. In addition, the YS-D1 is equipped with a

slave TTL mode and a slave manual mode (11 steps). When a digital SLR camera is used in a housing, conventional manual strobe photography and conventional TTL

photography (with a YS converter) is possible. In a clear water environment, two YS-D1 strobes in DS-TTL ll mode provide perfect lighting. When you would like to emphasize contrast, setting the main strobe in DS-TTL II mode and the secondary strobe in

manual mode (11 steps) offers flexibility without limiting control. When underwater

visibility is poor, two YS-D1 s set to manual mode may produce the best images. The

YS-D1 is the most versatile underwater strobe available today. The DS-TTL exposure

compensation function enables subtle lighting control by adjusting the Light Level dial in DS-TTL mode.

Powered by only four AA batteries, the YS-D1 offers a maximum light output of Guide Number 32.

It s even and flat beam is suitable and powerful enough for

professional use. Compared with the YS-110α, the YS-D1 is 25% more powerful, 50g (1.8oz) lighter and 10% smaller.

Not only is the YS-D1 suitable for wide-angle photography, it is also ideal for macro photography which requires deli-

cate light level control. The strobe s guide number can be

reduced to 1. Highly versatile, the YS-D1 offers more automatic and manual control

over lighting to get that perfect exposure. The YS-D1 is the most versatile underwater strobe available today. The DS-TTL exposure compensation function enables subtle lighting control by adjusting the Light Level dial in DS-TTL mode.

The YS-D1 is the world’s first slave TTL strobe equipped with an exposure compensation (EV) control function.

A slave TTL strobe typically emits the correct amount of light based off the input of

the camera s built-in flash. However, many TTL systems are not reliable. The YS-D1 s DS-TTL exposure compensation function allows users to adjust the light level in TTL mode (-1.5EV, -1EV, -0.7EV, -0.3EV, +-0EV, +0.3EV, +0.7EV, +1EV, +1.5EV).

Ergonomically positioned three-color LED indication lamp.

(Ready lamp) A red LED will be shown when the strobe has been charged and is ready to fire.

(TTL confirmation lamp) A green LED will be shown for two seconds to confirm DS-TTL ll exposure.

(Slave TTL mode lamp) A blue LED will be shown when the strobe is set to Slave TTL mode and the strobe has been charged and is ready to fire.

Two accessory diffusers.

In macro photography when a wide beam is not necessary, no diffuser should be

attached. When both strong light output and a relatively wide beam are necessary, the diffuser 100 should be attached. When a wide-angle lens is used, the diffuser 120 should be attached. Three beam angles can be selected in accordance with the photographer s requirements.

Ergonomic design.

The YS-D1 will auto-sense when a sync cord is connected, the slave ON/OFF switch will no longer be active. Simple controls and configuration enables easy operation.

The light level control ratchets/clicks to aid in setting and operation.

Strobe mount can be selected. *Optional

With the conventional YS adaptor, the strobe can be moved only upward and downward. However, with the optional ball joint, the strobe can be moved in a variety of angles.
