Participants’ Oath
In the spirit of the Northern Games and our Elders that walked before us, we promise to compete with the best of intentions and sportsmanship and to help others that need the support. We agree to respect and follow the rules created by the Founders of the Northern Games.
Aa r̂ igaa!
Welcome to the 55 th year of the Northern Games of the Western Arctic in Iñuuvik (Inuvik), Northwest Territories, on the traditional territories of the Inuvialuit and Gwich’in.
We are pleased to host the Games in Inuuvik. The Northern Games Society has been planning these Games for many years, which were delayed due to many factors. The Games we are hosting this week are focused on the region but are welcoming participants from Yellowknife, Whitehorse, and other regions.
Please join us in welcoming our guests, the Elders, the officials and participants from all communities, and let’s plan for a memorable event like the Northern Games of the past.
Gerry Kisoun PRESIDENT, NORTHERN GAMES SOCIETY (NGS)
On behalf of the Town of Iñuuvik (Inuvik), I am pleased that we are hosting the 2024 Northern Games and extend my welcome to all the participants. This is the 55 th anniversary of the Games, so it is a great accomplishment.
The athletes involved have, over the years, served as an inspiration to the younger generation and is of the utmost importance in continuing the cultures represented. I hope everyone involved enjoys the hospitality of Iñuuvik and has a chance to see what a friendly town we have.
Good luck and may the spirit of the competition be shared by everyone.
