The public is invited to join this special Clean Up Australia Day event at Rowan Robinson Park from 9am to 11am.

SCCU community and sponsorship specialist Cassie Nicole said the event will focus on collecting rubbish and conducting an audit of the findings to help keep rubbish out of the ocean and contribute to conservation research.

There’s also a free coffee for the first 20 volunteers to arrive with a refillable cup at the local Choux String shop as an extra incentive for the day.

“Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to bring the local community together and we are proud to be a part of it,” Ms Nicole said.

“Participants will also have a chance to learn more about the impact litter has on wildlife from the incredible Australian Seabird and Turtle Rescue and Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital teams.

“We hope that by organising this event we can raise awareness around the importance of healthy waterways and reducing rubbish on our beaches, creeks and oceans.”

The Clean Up Australia Day event will combine the efforts of SCCU, Positive Change For Marine Life, Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, Australian Seabird and Turtle Rescue, and Cudgen Headland Surf Life Saving Club to manage the special Clean Up Australia Day event on the beautiful Kingscliff foreshore.
