Modern Design Welcome to the first Modern Design sale of 2017 which continues on from the sale last November in having a number of private collections from ceramics to artworks including several pieces from current members of The Norwich 20 Group. An interesting art section includes original works by Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Colin Self, Tessa Newcomb and the German artist Heino Breilmann while printed works by David Hockney and Colin Self headline. I am very pleased to include the wonderful John Ward contemporary ceramic vase which has come via the Mary ‘Boots’ Redgrave collection, John’s work has enjoyed some spectacular sale results in recent months so with excellent provenance I am confident of a good hammer price. A large sculptural piece by Gordon Baldwin keeps it company and is of museum quality. Colour comes from some great textile panels including Heals and an array of Scandinavian glass joins British and Italian pieces. All complement the selection of Danish teak & French Rosewood furniture and lighting from ceiling pendants to table and floor lights. James Bassam Senior Valuer
