Modern Design Welcome to the Diss Auction Rooms and the first Modern Design sale of the year. Over the past few months I have been dealing with a deceased estate containing nearly 400 paintings from all era’s and genre’s and the last part of the collection I have saved for this sale. It includes a small collection of original paintings by Peter Issitt, the late uncle of the BBC news reader Kate Adie and are wonderful surrealist and fantasy studies. Another private collection, this time of Christies limited edition prints include the four Elisabeth Frink’s from her sea bird range. Sculptures by Brian Willsher are worth looking out for at the end of the sale and were originally purchased by the vendor at Heals in the 1960’s. For the ladies, take a look at the rare necklace by Art Smith, lot 6219, very stylish and very much of the period. Collections and single items from private vendors and deceased estates form the bulk of the sale so if you are looking at this catalogue or enjoy the viewing thinking it may be time for you to down size your own collection let me know if I can be of help.
