Welcome
I would like to welcome everyone into our 8th year in the AJFHL. The Sherwood Park Steele were instrumental in starting this league with the strong support of key individuals and teams in the league. It is becoming a premier league for girls 18-21 years of age to play. We are off to a great start as we have 15 new girls on board along with one new coach. We are all very excited to see how this year turns out. The chore will be to keep our girls coming out with the desire to work hard each game. The league has become a strong, very competitive battle and each game means a lot. We have very talented young ladies this year and they bring that talent to the game, each and every time. Our NAIT tournament showed how well they can bond and play at a high level of hockey when each one works hard. We received points from every line so it will be an interesting year and difficult for other teams to try and shut our scoring down. The coaching staff believe there is a fundamental responsibility to educate and train our players in the way of champions. A huge amount of time has gone into building a foundation for long term success for this season and the future. It is equally important to build young women of "Championship Character" who will become leaders in our communities, schools and in their homes. Our girls have responded with enthusiasm and hard work, both on and off the ice. We hope to create a competitive group of girls that compete at all times and are working towards a Championship Program. The test for our program is to keep the girls involved in hockey and for our graduating Juniors to continue to come out and help at practices and dryland, nice work girls.

SHERWOOD PARK STEELE & AJFHL AJFHL was established in 2009 for female hockey players 18-21 years old to continue playing hockey at a competitive level after Midget.
Founding members included: Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Irma, Spruce Grove, Red Deer, Wainwright and Edmonton. In 2011 the AJFHL expanded with teams in Calgary and Cremona. Currently there are nine teams spread over the province with four in the North and five in the South.
