CKIx RECAP Hello Mighty Texas-Oklahoma District, My name is Marcelo Urieta-Bravo and I had the honor of serving as this year’s On To International Convention Chair. Below is a little recap of this year’s CKIx in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is my hope that this article will get your excited and ready for next year’s CKIx in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. During CKIx, attendees from around the world came together to celebrate another successful year full of leadership, fellowship and service. During the Large Scale Service Project (LSSP) portion, CKI members got the opportunity to Circle the City with Service in an effort to leave our mark in the host city. Wednesday, June 24 and Friday, June 26, were dedicated to LSSP. On Wednesday, the service projects focused on the Hawthorne neighborhood where we did an Extreme Neighborhood Makeover. Projects include mural painting, landscaping the Kiwanis Centennial playground site, playground restoration project and trail cleanup, various projects at the Hawthorne Community Center, exterior home repairs, sidewalk and curb clean up, just to name a few. On Friday, the service projects were aimed to help other none-profit organizations around Indianapolis. Members had the opportunity to help the local Ronald McDonald House, Gleaners Food bank, 24 Hours of Booty, Faith Hope Love, Gigi’s playhouse, and many more. There were definitely projects for everyone and we truly got to leave our mark in the host city. In these two days of service, we completed over 4,200 service hours. This year, we also got the opportunity to celebrate along side Kiwanis, Key Club and Aktion Club, the Kiwanis’ 100th Birthday. There were several opportunities for CKI members to mingle with other members of the Kiwanis Family.

CKIx RECAP We attended the Kiwanis Opening Celebration, a Birthday Bash, the Kiwanis Family Night and Fireworks Show at Victory Field, Workshops with Kiwanis, the Kiwanis Closing Session, and a Hellogoodbye Concert for CKI and Key Club. During House of Delegates, CKI members voiced their opinions on several bylaw amendments and voted to elect the 2015-2016 International Board. The CKI members that will be representing our organization are: Racheile Ricklefs, President Jessica Davis, Vice-President Calvin Charles, Trustee AtLarge Cedrick Mah, Sub-A Trustee Jennifer Park, Sub-B Trustee Emily Bagwell, Sub-C Trustee Sara Nguyen, Sub-D Trustee Amanda Fester, Sub-E Trustee Vy Tran, Sub-F Trustee Camille Tyler, Sub G Trustee Lastly, during the CKI closing session, several clubs, districts and individuals were recognized for their achievements at CKIx15 in Indianapolis. Our 2015-2016 District Governor, Jennifer Tuggle, was recognized for her previous work with the Distinguished District Treasurer Award and I was recognized with the Distinguished District Governor Award for my work during the 2014-2015 CKI year. With the excitement of CKIx 2015 behind us, CKI is well on its way to having another successful year! I hope to see you all next year in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for the 61st Annual International Convention and the 16th Annual Large Scale Service Project. CKI and Kiwanis will be coming together to celebrate 100 years of Kiwanis in Canada. It’s going to be an exciting event and you won’t want to miss it. In Service, Leadership, and Fellowship, Marcelo Urieta-Bravo
