What's On Guide Autumn/Winter 2023

Page 1

As we move into autumn, we’re gearing up for our busiest time at the theatre. With so many fantastic shows on offer, we can’t wait!

As always, we’ve got something for everyone in our programme. For classical ballet, make sure you book for Swan Lake, delve into true crime with A History of British Mass Murderers, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Sasha Velour returns to our stage with her show The Big Reveal and find out what happens when you combine a Shakespeare classic with a bucket load of booze, when Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare perform their hilarious take on Much Ado About Nothing.

Comedy lovers must make sure to catch stand-up shows from Jen Brister, John Robins, Lucy Beaumont and Sophie McCartney. Dave Gorman returns by popular demand with his show Powerpoint to the People. Local comedy legends Carl Hutchinson and Gavin Webster also bring their laugh-out-loud shows to us this winter. Plus, Fingers and Fringe present A Night at the Theatre with a fantastic comedy line-up featuring Jarred Christmas, Sophie Duker, Anja Atkinson, Jamali Maddix & more!

A host of stars take to our stage in conversation including Dame Joan Collins, Ruby Wax and footballing legend Alan Shearer. Chief Instructor on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins Billy Billingham shares his inspiring story and Two Mr P’s bring us their hilarious podcast where they share their downright hilarious experience as teachers.

Fancy a sing-along? Join us for Choir! Choir! Choir!’s Epic 90s Singalong or Gareth Malone plus his band and stellar singers for a joyous evening of song. Other musical acts include rock ‘n’ roll legends The Drifters, 80s icon Lloyd Cole, Irish country star Nathan Carter and Get It On! – an outrageous celebration of glam rock! Plus, pop sensations Scouting For Girls take to our stage for a charity show where all profits go to Newcastle West End Food Bank.

For kids we have Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler favourites Tales from Acorn Wood and The Gruffalo’s Child brought to life on stage. CBeebies legend Andy Day visits us with his band Andy & The Odd Socks on the The Dial It Up To 11 Tour! Not forgetting our Christmas Panto Enchanted Entertainment presents Peter Pan which promises to be a festive treat for the whole family – tickets are selling fast, so book soon to avoid disappointment.

We are lucky enough to continue to host such fantastic shows because of your ongoing support. Every time you visit us, you’re supporting a local, independent venue and we look forward to giving you a warm welcome when you do!

There are bars on all levels of the Theatre, including our main Bistro Bar on the ground floor. Alcoholic and soft drinks are available, plus snacks. We don’t offer any hot food or meal options.

What to bring

Please be aware for the safety and comfort of our customers, we do perform bag searches. We have no cloakroom facility, so please do not bring unnecessary large personal items such as rucksacks, luggage, or shopping bags. There is no alcohol, glass, cans, hot food, or drinks permitted to be brought into the venue. For a full list of prohibited items, please see our website.

Babies and children

In our general policy, children aged 18 months or younger classify as Babes in Arms and will not need a ticket, although some shows aimed at younger children will have a different policy which will be stated in the event description on our website. Children over 18 months old will need a ticket, even if you want to keep them on your lap.

Buggy storage

We have a buggy/pram park at the back of the auditorium Stalls levels. Please note that space is limited – our staff will try their best to help but if you are able to do without a buggy, we kindly ask that you leave it at home.

Booster seats

We do have booster seats, but they are limited – please ask a member of staff upon arrival. It’s perfectly acceptable if you want to keep your child on your knee, as long as they’re not obstructing the view for people behind you.

Limited view seats

We are a Victorian Grade I listed building, and the view from certain seats may be restricted, though this can vary depending on the performance. Limited view seats will be indicated on seating plans.

Lost tickets

If you booked your tickets online through our website (Eventim), called our booking hotline or visited our box office, your ticket details will be in our system. If you bring your confirmation email, proof of purchase or booking information (e.g the name the booking was made under) we can re-print your tickets for you – there will be a small charge for this. If you booked your tickets through another ticketing site, please return to your point of purchase for help.

Refunds

Our tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable unless a show is postponed or cancelled (in this instance you can return you tickets to your point of purchase for a face value refund).
