What's On Guide Feb 2024

Page 1

Following another highly successful year for the theatre, we're already working on ways to ensure 2024 is our best yet! We're exploring how we can make your experience at our venue even more special, and of course, continuing to programme a variety of brilliant shows – something for everyone. We have fantastic comedy names such as Tommy Tiernan, Seann Walsh and Fern Brady joining us in 2024. Families can enjoy Circus Spectacular, The Gruffalo's Child and There's a Monster in Your Show. Music fans will love The History of Rock, Average White Band and Seven Drunken Nights: The Story of the Dubliners. Musical theatre more your thing? Tyne Theatre Productions present 9 to 5 The Musical in March is a must see! We're already selling out shows across 2024, so if there's a show you've got your eye one, we'd recommend securing your seats soon! As well as welcoming thousands through our doors in 2023 to enjoy a host of unmissable shows, we also completed a year-long project with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund and an extensive team of community volunteers. The project included hosting a conference for theatre academics from across the world, repairing and reinstating our Victorian understage machinery, some of which is now working for the first time since 1985, alongside completing a database of all performances that took place on our stage between 1867 and 1919. More information about all aspects of the heritage project, plus access to the searchable database, is available on our website. We're hoping that this project will be the first step on a road of ambitious development plans for the venue and we invite you to join us for the journey. As always, thank you for buying tickets, donating, joining our Friends' Club, sending in your feedback and for telling your friends about us. As an independent venue, we can only continue to operate because you continue to support us. Here's to an incredible 2024!
