History

The UACPA was formed on July 9, 1920 with 13 CPAs who met at the Commercial Club in Salt Lake City for the purpose of forming a state association of certified accountants. The first elected president was R.G. Abbey with Lincoln G. Kelly as Vice President and B.F. Reeves as Secretary/Treasurer.

The purpose for the organization was to “raise the standard of public accountancy as a profession, to advance and safeguard the interests of the members of the association, and to promote harmony and cordiality among them.”
