Your Guide to Living in the Brooke Hall Everything you need to know about living here is available online. The guide to living is a fully searchable website where you can find out about anything, from recycling to rent payment. There are also live travel maps to each College site so that you can plan your journey, as well as links to your tenancy agreement, advice on cleaning and a calendar of Social Programme events.

Internet
Connect your computer to the WiFi network “CableCom” and a browser portal will pop up. Create an account and you’re ready to go. To add additional devices, just follow the same process.
Supermarkets -Tesco Local is at 316 Camberwell New Road, and larger supermarkets Morrison’s and the Co-Op can be found further along Denmark Hill, our nearest high street. Banks -Natwest, Lloyds, Santander, Barclays and HSBC are all located along Denmark Hill. Medical -The local hospital is Kings College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London, SE5 9RS (020 3299 9000). -Lister Primary Care Medical Centre is at 101 Peckham Road, and sign-up forms are available at reception. The centre also includes a walk-in clinic which requires no GP appointment, though you will have to wait to be seen. Art Supplies -Cowling and Wilcox art supply shop is at 8-12 Orpheus Street. Buses -The stops outside the hall are served by routes 36 (Queens Park), 185 (Victoria), 436 (Paddington) & N136 (24h - Oxford Circus).

The Social Programme The Social Programme team are there to make sure that you get the most out of your time here in halls. They organise weekly events like movie nights, yoga and outings to galleries, shows and nightspots. Your reps will introduce themselves over the next few days, get to know them and check around the halls for details of upcoming events.
Transport
Bicycle Cycling in London is very popular as a free alternative to public transport. It is vital that if you cycle you are safe and confident on the roads, and a good lock is advisable. Safety advice is available at www.TFL.gov.uk. Barclays Bikes Barclays (known as ‘Boris’) bikes are available for anybody to use but require a debit or credit card to release a bike. You can also buy an annual pass at www.TFL.gov.uk.

Tube The tube runs from around 6AM-0:15AM every day. Bus We have a bus stop opposite the entrance. After midnight you will need to use night bus routes. Taxi WestOne Cars (08448 888 888) provide a safe, reliable service. TFL.gov.uk We recommend TFL’s website for travel planning in London.
Don’t forget to get your student Oyster card as soon as you are enrolled. Go to www.tfl.gov.uk to apply.
Money
Rent & charges
You may find yourself experiencing financial difficulties during your studies. Student Advisers can help identify sources of funding and offer guidance on student finance and managing your money.

If you are responsible for damage to your room or the building in general you will be charged for repairs or cleaning costs. A full list of charges is available in the Guide to Living.

Bank Accounts
Most banks will require your passport, a copy of your tenancy agreement (available by logging into your accommodation account). Some banks will also require a letter from your College.
Studying & Mental Health
If you are experiencing difficulties that are impacting on you and your studies, talk to a University Counsellor. Mental Health Advisers are also available if you have a mental health issue, or you are concerned about your health and well-being.

Maintenance
Laundry
Report all maintenance issues using the Maintenance Report Form available from outside the office. Keep the top (white copy) for your records and either hand in the rest to a member of staff or post in the office mail box.
You will be kept up-to-date with your request via Room Visitation Slips left in your room each time a member of staff or contractor attends.

Tenancy regulations
Security
Your tenancy agreement (your contract) is available by logging into your account via arts.ac.uk/housing. A copy the tenancy regulations is posted on the guide to living.
The facilities team are here 24/7 should you have any problems. If there is nobody in the office just call the site mobile. Feel free to come and talk to us any time, we are here for you.

It is essential that you fill out your inventory within 24 hours of arrival to avoid charges for damaged or missing items at the end of your tenancy.
