Internet

Connect your computer to the WiFi network “Ask4” and a portal will pop up. Create an account and you’re ready to go. To add additional devices, just follow the same process.

Supermarkets -Both Budgens and Costcutters are very near by on Moyser Road, while the nearest large supermarket is Sainsbury’s at Tooting Broadway. Banks -Tooting Broadway has a large selection of banks including Natwest, Halifax, HSBC, Nationwide, Barclays and Santander. Medical -The local hospital is St George’s, Blackshaw Road, London SW17 0QT (020 8672 1255). It houses a 24h walk-in centre in case of emergencies. -Tooting South Medical Centre is at 22 Otterburn Street, London SW17 9NH. Opening hours and contact details are online at www.tootingsouthmedicalcentre.co.uk. -The nearest dentist is the Pearl Dental Clinic, 144 Mitcham Rd (020 8767 5151). Buses -The Tooting Bec transfer bus is free and will pick you up daily from the car park area between 7:30-9:30AM, 4:30-7:30PM. -The 57 (Wimbledon, Kingston), 127 (Tooting), and 333 (Tooting) buses run from Nimrod Road, close to the main entrance.

The Social Programme

The Social Programme team are there to make sure that you get the most out of your time here in halls. They organise weekly events like movie nights, yoga and outings to galleries, shows and nightspots. Your reps will introduce themselves over the next few days, get to know them and check around the halls for details of upcoming events.

Transport

Bicycle Cycling in London is very popular as a free alternative to public transport. It is vital that if you cycle you are safe and confident on the roads, and a good lock is advisable. Safety advice is available at www.TFL.gov.uk. Barclays Bikes Barclays (known as ‘Boris’) bikes are available for anybody to use but require a debit or credit card to release a bike. You can also buy an annual pass at www.TFL.gov.uk.

Tube The tube runs from around 6AM 0:15AM every day. the nearest tube station is Tooting Broadway (zone 3). Bus Our nearest bus stop is on Nimrod Road. After midnight you will need to use night bus routes. Taxi WestOne Cars (08448 888 888) provide a safe, reliable taxi service. TFL.gov.uk We recommend TFL’s website for travel planning in London.

Don’t forget to get your student Oyster card as soon as you are enrolled. Go to www.tfl.gov.uk to apply.


Money

If you are responsible for damage to your room or the building in general you will be charged for repairs or cleaning costs. A full list of charges is available in the Guide to Living.

Bank Accounts

Most banks will require your passport, a copy of your tenancy agreement (available by logging into your accommodation account). Some banks will also require a letter from your College.

Studying & Mental Health

If you are experiencing difficulties that are impacting on you and your studies, talk to a University Counsellor. Mental Health Advisers are also available if you have a mental health issue, or you are concerned about your health and well-being.

Maintenance

Laundry

Report all maintenance issues to reception, where staff will keep a record of any repairs or maintenance to be carried out.

A coin-operated laundry is available in your building, and usage instructions are posted. Wash and dry: ÂŁ4

Tenancy regulations

Security

Your tenancy agreement (your contract) is available by logging into your account via arts.ac.uk/housing. A copy of the terms is posted on the guide to living.
