Some of my professors have really made an impact on me, and helped me hone in on what I want to do. Once he’s finished with his associate degree program, Kevin plans to stay at UC Blue Ash and complete his education with the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Administration, one of two baccalaureate programs* offered at the college.
I just really love it here. And the option of completing my bachelor’s degree at Blue Ash is amazing. I can’t wait to get started! * UC Blue Ash currently offers two baccalaureate degree programs, the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Administration and the fully online Bachelor’s in Radiation Science Technology.

azing grace “UC Blue Ash is a hidden gem but a lot of people are starting to know about it. It’s just a wonderful place to be.” Grace Meyer Pre-Medicine
When Grace Meyer graduated third in her high school class (with a 4.998 GPA), she already had big plans. Inspired by her little brother, Koehl, who has Down syndrome and has battled serious health issues, she is determined to become a pediatrician specializing in the treatment of developmental disorders.
Koehl is an inspiration. There are a lot of hoops he has to jump through on a daily basis that most people don’t. And I think it’s awesome that he does it with a smile on his face. Grace knows her path to becoming a pediatrician won’t be easy, but she’s determined to do so with a smile on her face as well. She exudes warmth and positivity, and her drive to achieve her dream is palpable.
I’ve been on the other side, as the family member of a patient. That’s why I’m so passionate about my career. One thing she knows for sure – UC Blue Ash is just the place she needs to be to make her dream a reality. She has continued to excel academically while taking on numerous leadership roles on campus, including Student Ambassador, Student Orientation Coordinator and Career Peer.
It’s been a great experience here – getting involved on campus. I’ve learned there’s a difference between being able to go to school and being able to go to school and really thrive.

“There is no way I would be in the position I am in today without UC Blue Ash.” Lauren Altman Director of Training & Development, Thunderdome Restaurant Group 2016 UCBA Young Alumni Award Honoree
UC Blue Ash Made It Possible. Lauren Altman (Pre-Business, 2007) doesn’t tend to stay in one place very long. She has always been, as she calls it, “hyperactive”—which is how she first got started working in the bustling restaurant industry. While this sense of restlessness proved to be a challenge throughout school for Lauren, it suits her well now as she manages four restaurant con16
cepts (with 11 locations nationwide) including Bakersfield, The Eagle, and Krueger’s Tavern. I always knew I was smart, but I couldn’t prove it on paper. That changed at UC Blue Ash. My professors instilled the confidence I needed to advance my career. Lauren says her favorite part of what
she does is bringing people into the restaurant world and uncovering each individual’s unique skill set and abilities. While training new staff, she draws upon her experience at UCBA. It’s usually a classroom of 50, and I do it the same way as my UC Blue Ash professors. Like them, I try to teach in a way people will understand.

“I got the education I needed to soar.” Chris Hummer Computational Aerodynamicist, U.S. Air Force, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
Engineering Success. Taking Flight. Giving Back. Chris Hummer (Pre-Engineering, 2004) took a few years off after high school before attending college; he chose to start at UC Blue Ash because of the small class sizes. I took a study skills class my second semester at UCBA and it really set me up for success. It got me back into ‘learning mode’ and helped me adjust to the high level of college academics.
From there, Chris flourished at UC Blue Ash. He then continued on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UC. A co-op experience at Wright-Patterson AFB turned into a full-time career that he’s enjoyed for 11 years. Today, he works on all types of aircraft for the Air Force, enhancing their aerodynamics to ensure optimal efficiency.
Chris continues to give back to his alma mater as an active member of the UC Blue Ash Alumni Council. The thing that inspired me the most to get back to UC Blue Ash is that it always felt like home. Even with the renovations and updates to the campus, it still feels the same when I’m there. University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College

Dental Hygiene grads Audrey Herman and Claire Tonnis took their education on the road. Shortly after graduating, they participated in a mission trip with Project Mañana to the Dominican Republic and provided free oral health exams to 200 patients in a rural village outside Santiago.
You could see the smiles on everyone’s faces when we were done treating them. They couldn’t stop smiling; that was very rewarding. The two say the education they received in the Dental Hygiene program at UC Blue Ash prepared them well for the experience in the Dominican Republic. It was demanding and at times stressful, but seeing how it prepared us for this amazing experience and for our professional careers makes it all worth it.

Dr. Ortiz is a vocal champion of the study abroad experience, and loves seeing her students return from a trip transformed.
On campus, she leads as a Diversity Scholars mentor and Vice-chair of the college’s Cultural Diversity Committee. In the classroom, her enthusiasm is contagious. Simply put, her students adore her. And the feeling is mutual.
I love the students here. They come from different backgrounds and paths in life and our supportive campus creates a unique community where they come together to learn and grow. Being witness to their achievements energizes me!
Research. Discussion. Personal Discovery. Behavioral Science professor Todd Callais is an avid researcher in the areas of criminology and media, and brought his passion to life on campus last year through the development of the Police+Race+Trust speakers series.
This unique series brought nationally recognized experts to UC Blue Ash for frank discussions about the role of police and race in our society and their depiction in the media.
More than anything, though, Dr. Callais loves helping students identify and research topics that they are passionate about. I quite enjoy guiding students through independent research projects. I have had a student win a prize in the student paper competition at the North Central Sociological Association for the last two years now.
The speaker series allowed my students to gain new perspectives on a topic that is near and dear to me. University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College

First generation support. First generation students are some of our favorites, because they often come to higher education with unmatched energy and excitement. Joseph Tran (Pre-Psychology) is a perfect example.
My experience as a first generation student has been challenging at times, but also very meaningful. I’ve learned to ask a lot of questions.
What drove me to college was the idea that I could grow up to be whoever I wanted to be and make an awesome life for myself because of my degree.
At UC Blue Ash, we’re glad to answer questions, offer guidance and make the college experience everything you expect it to be. In fact, many of our faculty and staff were first generation students themselves!
Joseph has utilized just about every resource the college offers – from academic labs to the advising office – to make that dream a reality.

Whether you need academic support, the challenge to excel, or just some guidance along the way, we’re here to help.
Our commitment to success. Our College Program for Academic Success (CPAS) is a conditional admission program that is designed for students who need additional support in adjusting academically to the college environment. This program is required for all incoming freshman who have a high school GPA of 2.2 or lower, or an ACT score of 15 or lower. (ACT scores are preferred for admission in the 2017-18 academic year and required for admission beginning with the 2018-19 academic year.)
By working closely with their academic advisor and professors, and by meeting other program requirements, students in CPAS can build a strong academic foundation that will set them up for success in college and beyond. Please note that only 200 spots are available for this program. 24

Annabella and Antoni Rojas are twins from Valencia, Venezuela who came to the United States to pursue a college education. They toured the UC Uptown campus and also came to UC Blue Ash for a campus visit. The siblings have a special connection, like many twins, and often understand each other’s thoughts and feelings without speaking.
It’s difficult to explain, says Antoni, but we both knew immediately that UC Blue Ash was the right fit for us. They loved the welcoming campus, small class sizes and support services. And after meeting Nick Castro, UCBA’s Hispanic/Latino Affairs Coordinator, they knew they’d made the right choice.
Antoni is pursuing a degree in Sports Administration and hopes to work for ESPN. Annabella will be transitioning to UC’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP) to pursue a degree in Architecture.
The support we get at UC Blue Ash makes it possible for us to focus on our studies as we reach for our dreams. It’s definitely a win-win situation.
Nick has been a really big help in making the transition to living and studying in America. Thanks to Nick’s assistance, both Antoni and Annabella applied for and were awarded scholarships from the Greater Cincinnati Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
I was really excited to find out we both were receiving a scholarship. Venezuela’s economy is not very good, so this really helps us. It means a lot, says Annabella. We make it possible. The University of Cincinnati must receive an official, final high school transcript showing date of graduation by July 1. The scholarship totals $1,000 ($500 fall semester/$500 spring semester). Provided that the student successfully completes** a minimum of 12 credit hours with at least a 3.0 semester GPA during their fall semester as a full-time, degreeseeking student at UCBA, the student would remain eligible for the scholarship during their spring semester as a full-time, degree-seeking student at UCBA. This scholarship is only valid during the first year (2 semesters) of attendance as a degree-seeking student. * Available to incoming freshmen who graduated from high school within the last calendar year. ** Grades of F, I, UW, W, X, NP, U, T, UP, and NG are not considered successful completion.
Other UCBA Scholarships Over $75,000 in scholarships are available to UCBA students each year! ucblueash.edu/scholarships

You will need to list UC’s Title IV Code (003125) when filling out the FAFSA to ensure that UC’s Financial Aid office receives your information. Also remember that applying for financial aid is an annual process.

CPAS admission is for fall and spring semesters only. It is required for all incoming freshman students who have a high school GPA of 2.2 or lower, or an ACT score of 15 or lower. Please note that there are only 200 spots available in the CPAS program; if you meet the profile for this program you are strongly encouraged to apply by May 1, 2017.
