You can look forward to 4 days of powerful preaching, deep worship, informative classes, and awesome fun and fellowship! Room rates increase June 23rd so reserve your room and make plans today to meet us in Towson, MD! Come prepared to encounter our Limitless God! In this poignant time the Lord is taking us deeper in reflection in this mid-month issue regarding our worship. Bishop J. Nathan Paige challenges us in Worship…A Lifestyle (part 2). We hope you are blessed as you enjoy this issue. Be encouraged, and above all UNITED, continue to stand. In His Service, Annette Parkins Editor www.unitedcovenantchurches.org

Worship….A Lifestyle

(part II)

Worship is not just what we do, Worship is who we are, and who we are collectively as the body of Christ. God shapes our lives so that we must be joined or knitted together in relationship with each other and with Him. “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ..” (1 Peter 2:5). Worship and relationship is the door for Christ to come in and take us from ruins to restoration. Worship births many things in our lives. Our worship will pull us from our problem and take us to our provision, just like Joseph. It opens up atmospheres and makes things happen! Worship leads to transformation and identity, because its not just what I do, it’s who I am, and who we are collectively. We have to remember the wonderful works of God in the past, concentrate on what He is doing now, and have expectation and anticipation for the future. Meditate on His mighty acts, and He will deliver you again! We must be careful in our approach to God that we do not approach Him with a careless or frivolous attitude. Why? Because He is God and we are not. We must be careful that we do not lose our awe, our wonder, our reverence, and yes, our fear of God. Worship is a divine moment that shapes us and helps us. It is a love moment in the presence of God. A worshipper chases after God’s heart. Worship must be cultivated in your private time before it can be exemplified in your public time. We must practice the presence of God daily not just in corporate worship. Do not allow comparison to be that element that will keep you away from doing what God wants you to do. God has put a gift and desire in your heart different than any other, and you are uniquely wired that way for a reason. Therefore, do not compare your worship to others.

A worshipper doesn’t wait for someone to sing to them; they sing their own song unto the Lord. Ultimately a worshipper is not satisfied until they have the heart and the presence of God. I believe worship at its essence is the response of a heart that is earnestly, striving, and crying out after the heart of God. Worship flows out of the deep, wrenching, hunger, thirst and desire to know God, and not only to know Him, but to dwell in Him and to dwell in His presence. Worship escorts you into the presence of God and if you get close enough to God, trivial things don’t matter. When you’re in the presence of God no one or no thing impresses you because God is all! “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16:11). The ultimate sacrifice that we can make is to set aside all of our selfishness, ambition, and pride and allow God to make us into what He wants us to be. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 12 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship.” We are to sacrifice ourselves in worship. Paul says that this IS our act of worship. Specifically, the vision for UCCC Music Department is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ through biblically sound music that touches the heart. It also provides a place to enjoy meaningful relationships with a family of believers celebrating Christ and his wondrous works through music and worship. At our National Holy Convocation there will be an opportunity for worship to go forth through the celebration of music. You are invited to be a part of this experience through our National Music Department who will be ministering during Convocation Week. Please come and be a part of the Music Department where we worship God in spirit and in truth!
