Hell is Not The Place To Decide to Evangelize Luke 16:19-31 I believe we are all familiar with the story of Lazarus (the beggar) and the rich man found in Luke 16:19-31. Some would want to ask, “Is it a true story or is it a parable? Although it is a parable, it would sadden most people to think this story to be true. How could someone be that unkind to another human being? It is unthinkable to know that this poor man with sores all over his body is laid at your gate daily to beg, but yet he is given no compassion by someone who clearly has it to give. Never once did the rich man have an ounce of sympathy upon the beggar. On no account did he give the beggar a piece of chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, candid yams, potato salad, banana pudding, cheese cake, 7up cake, or sweet potato pie from his table. He failed to even offer the beggar a crumb from the floor. If a crumb were to fall, he most likely would have the servants to quickly sweep. The scriptures state that the dogs (who we know to be without a soul) had more pity on the beggar than the rich man. At least the dogs licked the pus from his sores giving him some relief (Luke 16:21). But the rich man, cloth in the finest that Macy’s and Lord & Taylor have to offer, had no mercy. His closet contained rows and rows of designer suits, shoes, hats, pocketbooks, diamonds and pearls from the finest boutiques. But yet, the beggar he past everyday had to find cover and comfort in the dirt in which he laid and eventually died upon. Regardless of the possessions we may or may not own, we cannot escape death. On the same day, the rich man and the beggar died. The beggar transitioned into the bosom of Abraham. The rich man lifted up his eyes in hell with all five senses fully operating. He could see the beggar, he had a taste for water, he could feel torment, he could speak, and he could hear the replies to his questions which were all No, No, and No! (Luke 16:23-25)
The rich man’s failed attempts for relief brought him to a reality he should have learned from the prophets. He, like many of us, knows of family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers who have not yielded to the voice of the Lord. What should he and the other’s he suddenly had concern for have learned? How does God expect for his sons and daughters to live our lives? In Matthew 25: 31-46, Jesus tells about the final judgment of man based on your evangelism. Evangelism is defined as the spreading or zealous preaching of Christian teaching (the Gospel), as through missionary work. In other words, we will be judged by our evangelism service. Our works, or lack thereof, can condemn us immediately to everlasting punishment; but the righteous into the eternal resting place with God (Matthew 25:46). Know that hell is not the place to decide to evangelize. Throughout this parable, the rich man’s name is not revealed. However, in hell is where it is revealed that he is a “Son.” In verse 25, Abraham called him son. Are you surprised? For those who believe in eternal security, this parable supports the scripture that states “… faith without works is dead). There is a place in hell for sons and daughters should you fail to evangelize. You can avoid the fate of the rich man by evangelizing while you have a chance. John 9:4 declares, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
Remember Saints of God (sons and daughters). Hell is not the place to decide to evangelize!

Healthy Saints
(a publication of Rehoboth Temple of Praise)
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 2 Dear Reader, I have sustained you from the 6th week of your conception, and have continued to sustain you after the time of your birth, until now. When you were separated from your mother through the cutting of the umbilical cord that supplied all of the nutrients, I have continued to work for you! Every day I beat 100,00 times, sending 2,000 gallons of blood through your body. I work for you every day although most of time I am completely ignored. You don’t even remember that I am sustaining you with every beat that I produce. I am no bigger than your fist, but I have the mighty job of keeping blood flowing through the 60,000 miles of blood vessels that feed your organs and tissues. I will stay healthier for you if you eat healthy, well-balanced meals…..and exercise!
Heart disease is the biggest killer of both men and women. I am always working for you. Yet day in, and day out you continually abuse me. You don’t give me the necessary exercise that would keep me healthy. You eat those things that tend to clog the arteries. This that me to work much harder than I should. As a result this causes your blood pressure to rise to abnormal numbers and causes me to enlarge to cataclysmic proportions!
Laughter is good heart medicine. When you laugh the lining of your blood vessels relax and expand, making my job much easier. LISTEN UP!!! Unlike your eyes, ears, lungs, kidneys, arms and legs…..there is only ONE of me. So take care of me, because I’m not like the Timex watch…I can’t take a licking and keep on ticking!! WHEN I STOP TICKING……YOUR ARE DONE!
Sincerely, Your
