The Path Forward Transforming Our Future Today The Merage School Future Leaders Initiative (FLI) guides, inspires, and empowers high school and community college students from Southern California’s underserved communities. A community outreach and certificate program consisting of remote and in person courses, FLI focuses on delivering a tailored business education, providing access to financial literacy courses, with the goal of encouraging university enrollment, increasing college readiness and preparing students for careers at the intersection of business, technology and entrepreneurship. The Future Leaders Initiative leverages UCI’s state-of-the-art educational resources, the expertise of globally renowned faculty, and leading-edge curricula to offer hands-on mentorship and professional training in these crucial academic areas.

Future Leaders 4 4Initiative Creating opportunities. Transforming lives.

Our Vision With a focus on inclusive excellence, FLI’s mission is to expand and diversify the pipeline of talented leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Southern California by investing in today’s brilliant students. The program will expose students to careers at the intersection between technology and business while also providing them with the necessary personal and financial skills needed to thrive in a digitally driven work environment. As such, the program aims to address the underrepresentation of certain communities in the business sector by preparing students to attend a four-year university and successfully graduate with a degree in Business.

“To expand & diversify the pipeline of talented leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Southern California.”

“Build a robust pipeline of diverse talent to be included in today’s digitally driven world.”

Our Goal Our goal is to partner with philanthropists, donors, community members, academics, and alumni to raise funds in support of deserving, motivated, and brilliant students from underserved backgrounds. With your help, we will train the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators who will leverage business and technology to create the new products, services and organizations that enhance the economic and social well-being of their communities.

Our Mission Technology based businesses have been a key driver of economic and social well-being globally. However, evidence clearly shows that not all communities have been able to receive benefits from this sector, in part due to low participation. Our vision is a robust pipeline of diverse talent participating in all aspects of the technology-based business ecosystem. FLI provides underserved students exposure to business career options and early college preparation, thus creating an essential foundation for this pipeline. FLI is rooted in the idea that college preparation begins in high school, and we are building an inclusive culture that breaks down barriers to higher education and successful careers in business.
