About Us
The Latinx Initiative (LXi) at the UCI Paul Merage School of Business was formed in response to the rapidly growing community of Latinx professionals in the business community not only in the surrounding area but in the world. LXi’s ultimate goals are to build community, create awareness of the growing and talented Latinx business and student community and provide programming to support our school and community's career and leadership development.
The annual LXi conference is the forum dedicated to the Latinx students, faculty, staff, alums, and allies who are interested in professional impact and advancement in numerous fields: finance, health, human resource management, audit, accounting, marketing, sales, operations, data analytics, public relations, and administration.
This year’s conference will be hosted at the Merage School on the University of California, Irvine campus. With the theme, Excelencia: Leadership that Thrives, the conference will highlight the outstanding examples of Latinx leaders throughout the region across business sectors. The conference will feature invited speakers and panels who will provide rare and exclusive insight into what it takes to lead effectively today and tomorrow.
I am excited to help create a community where Latinx students can develop themselves as professionals. I hope to create a space where we can have conversations within the Merage School about how we can best support the Latinx community during their time at UCI."

VP of Marketing, Human Resource Management Association 21-22; ALFPA Secretary, 20-21
2022 LXi Excelencia Conference: Latino Leadership that Thrives
Public health, social, technological, and environmental problems impacting for-profit and non-profit organizations today are increasingly complex. They require leaders who can navigate this ever-evolving landscape. With a growing number of Latinxowned and operated firms and an increase in Latino consumers, there is a need for a conversation about how to future-proof Latino leaders. It calls for bringing together different facets of the professional workforce with faculty, students, and staff to discuss pressing topics.
The 2nd Annual LXi Conference will:
• Explore, define and understand Leadership Excellence for the Latino/a community.
• Strengthen network and career opportunities.
• Connect industry leaders actively seeking Latinx talent.
• Enable access to mentors, allies, and connections with professionals and peers.
The Annual Latinx Initiative conference is the primary forum for the Latino/Latina business community in Orange County with active participation from the OC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, UC OC Alliance, UCI Chapters of the Latino Business Student Association and the Association for Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA).
