Presidents’ Message Nature As My Teacher

Many of you are aware that my office opens out to a patio area that includes a fountain, plants, and now a new Angel. I am daily visited by birds and squirrels. In fact this morning for the first time I saw a dragonfly. One of our ministers built benches to sit on. I have done a variety of ceremonies including a wedding and an ordination on this patio. I have documented many of my joys and displeasures with the squirrels digging up plants in The Joyful Noise which is our weekly newsletter. As I described the antics of the squirrels and my frustrations with them, it became a blueprint of the type of day/week I was having. In the beginning I only saw one squirrel, however as time has passed there are at least four now who regularly visit the fountain for water, leap along the fence, dig into and knock down plants and break pots! Some times just as I was nurturing a plant and it was doing well I would come into the office and upon looking out on the patio find that that was the one pot the squirrel had dug in and sometimes found the plant on the ground! For quite a while the squirrels and I had quite a stand off: they considered the patio their territory, I did not, and I became more and more protective of the plants. After a while I realized that the patio energy although good, was not as encompassing as I would like it to be and I also realized that I was part of the problem. It was my animosity towards the squirrels, and that also affected my daily energy with the people interacting with me. I began to watch the squirrels with a new perspective, instead of seeing them as trespassers. I started watching what they were doing: climbing down the fence to drink water from the fountain, chasing one another along the fence, sometimes leaping along, then into the tree branches as if they were playing tag. One sometimes lies atop the fence in the sun with his legs hanging down taking a nap. I sometimes think he/she is enjoying just being in the sun.

Presidents’ Message Continued:

What has happened as I changed my perspective is that the plants are thriving and growing. This summer I have seen more birds come and drink from the fountain along with taking baths. There is one who really gets into the water and splashes all over the place, getting so wet that it is difficult for him to fly up to the top of the fence. The hummingbirds come every day and of course the doves. We have had a basket up in the rafters for a number of years now which the doves have used to nest in. It is quite protected and a number of babies have flown out of this patio. I have no idea where they go once they leave as the parents are only around here when they nest, but they bring such a joy to my heart. We were recently gifted with a four foot angel and yes, she is holding a dove. She has added to the loving energy of the patio. This patio has become quite magical for me and I know its energy is meant to be shared. I encourage all of you when experiencing stress of any kind to visualize yourself sitting on one the benches, listening to the sounds of the fountain and being embraced in the arms of the angel. Take deep breaths, feel the Love and Peace the energy of the patio is bringing to you. Know you are being protected and filled with Love. Feel your body relax and allow yourself to feel and hear the message Spirit has for you. With Light and Love, Sandy

Beginning Anew By Reverend Hal Isen

How many times in the past have you looked at an area of your life (or maybe all of it) and decided it was finally time to make a change; it was finally time to transform a relationship, express and fulfill a long-held vision, lose that weight, do an exercise regimen regularly, learn a language, stop destructive habits, behaviors and addictions, or let go of anger and fear from the past? Whatever it was, you decided it was time to begin life anew, and declared that this was the beginning of a new year, a new day, or a new start. And how often---in spite of all of your good intentions, resolutions, declarations, and promises ---did you find that, after the initial euphoria and rush of thinking, "Yes, I can! you began to doubt yourself again and soon found that your thoughts, actions and situations began to slip back to being much as they had been before, carrying the familiar, predictable and unwanted limitations from the past along with you into the present? Attempting outer changes alone makes no difference. It is only when a shift in Being occurs within that one's outer behavior and view of the world alters also. Is it not folly to expect a new relationship with life to take root without first being willing to pull up and let go of the weeds of negative and constricting beliefs, ideas, and emotions that have shaped and limited your past perceptions, decisions, and behaviors? If you do not first notice and remove the sharp and poisonous thorns of shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, resentment, and anger from the ground of being within your own heart, how can you hope to allow the love, joy, compassion, and gratitude that are expressions of your true nature to blossom and thrive within and without? The choice is simple: hold onto to the constriction, bitterness, and pain of past interpretations about what happened that guarantee a life of suffering, or dissolve all of that past negative energy by releasing it back to the formless and be free to create the present/future newly. In our conditioned state, we hold onto and store all of the toxic inner mental/emotional "accounts receivable" from the past in our bodies and minds for two reasons. First, to justify living as a reactive victim /predator, closed down and armored to protect the survival of the false separate "me" from all future real and imagined harm by staying always alert for anything or anybody that in any way reminds us of a past "threat" or danger to our self-image, self-narrative or point of view. Second, to keep a record of what "they owe me" so that someday we can "get even" and square accounts with "he/she/them/it" about what we said they did or didn't do. The result of this twenty-four hour a day, fear-driven survival alert is constant internal and external stress, constriction, ongoing mind chatter, and increasing mental, emotional, and physical degeneration and dis-ease.

In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present4

Beginning Anew Continued What happens when you dis-identify from and dissolve all of the inner "accounts receivable?" What happens is that there is a lifting and releasing of a heaviness of body, mind, and soul you may not even have realized was present, replaced by a lightness, joy, and sense of well being and inner peace you could not have imagined was possible. Naturally and spontaneously, you find yourself embracing all of life as it is, guided by a loving and infinite core wisdom within, and experiencing each day newly as "an unfolding work of art." In some cultures, this action is called, "to forgive." Forgive does not mean to condone or agree with what happened. To forgive is to "give as before. To "give as before" is to stop withholding, free from the fear-driven game of false security called, "I'll give my love and joy if I get mine first....maybe." To "give as before" is to dissolve the weeds and thorns of fear, hurt, bitterness, and hate from your heart, and allow the love, joy, and compassion that are expressions of your true nature to flow freely as a gift to the world. It is what Gandhi did. It is what Mandela did. It is what you can do. Look within. All of the core wisdom principles and tools for completing the past and creating your life newly are already there within you waiting for you to say, "YES!" All you have to do is apply them. Or not. As always, at every moment, it is your free choice.

g Meditations in v e li e R s s e Ten Minute Str Kala Ambrose By Reverend

A growing number of physicians and medical centers are suggesting meditation as a holistic practice to relax the body and relieve stress. It's exciting to see this form of mind, body and spirit healing being given the credence and attention it deserves. The act of meditation is one of the most rewarding gifts you can give to yourself, yet for many, the concept is daunting. There are those who enter into meditative practices which evolve into an entire lifestyle, but for those who have never tried to meditate, the idea of sitting in an uncomfortable position in complete silence is enough to discourage even the slightest attempt. This does not have to be the case, as there is a meditation practice suitable for each type of person, regardless of their limitations or challenges. Interested? Here's a few suggestions to get you started on a meditation practice of your own: First, if you are looking to adopt a meditation practice, begin by disregarding any preconceived notions of how you think a meditation practice should operate. The key to a successful meditation practice is to create a practice that feels right for you. One of the easiest ways to do this is to adopt a simple ten minute meditation which I like to call... Ten Minute Bliss Breaks Step One: Create a Routine Establish a set time which will become your ten minute meditation time. Perhaps you'll wake up early in the morning before the rest of your household to have those quiet ten minutes each day, for others, it might be during the lunch hour outside in a park. Many people prefer to meditate in the evening to relax after a busy day and to open their mind to a deeper dream state. Step Two: Don't Forget to Breathe Crucial in any meditation practice, is the breath. Regardless of whether you wish to spend ten minutes in meditation or ten hours, slow, deep, methodical breathing will relax the body and bring in oxygen to both the lungs and blood stream. It will also help to retain focus and awareness. Step Three: Relax and Give It and You Some Time When beginning a new meditation practice, you may find that when you take those ten minutes, that it proves to be too difficult to simply relax and think of nothing. Do not feel concerned, this is your practice and you can create a meditation practice which is right for you at this time. You will find that it will evolve over time as you continue the practice and in the beginning, even slow relaxed breathing is good for the body and will relax you. If you're finding it hard to concentrate on nothing, you may prefer to explore guided meditations.

Ten Minute Stress Relief continued Guided Meditations For many people, guided meditations are a wonderful way to meditate. You can listen to the meditation on a CD or on your iPod playing it in your home or with headphones anywhere you are. Simply choose the meditation that appeals to you and enter into the journey that the guided meditation provides with a guide and relaxing music. Guided meditations allow your mind to focus on particular images, allowing for creative visualization. As a teacher of the ancient wisdom teachings, I created a trilogy of sacred site guided meditations intended to guide the listener on a journey through nature, along with providing the opportunity to interact with guides and receive messages from the higher self. The sacred site trilogy begins with the Spirit of Hawaii to connect with your spirit guide, from there, the journey continues in the second CD, with Egyptian Mystery Temple, leading you into the ancient rituals from the temples of Egypt and the series culminates in the third CD, which is Tibetan Mountain Journey, which focuses on opening and expanding the heart chakra. Each meditation runs for over 30 minutes and a one minute sample of each of these meditations can be heard on the ExploreYourSpirit.com website. There are hundreds of including ones that focus others that simply chant a Some days though, you're enough time for a 30 you still would like to center yourself and relax. personal visualization needed is your

guided meditations available, on specific problems as well as peaceful message with music. so busy that you don't have minute guided meditation, but meditate for a few minutes to Here's how to create your own meditation and the only tool imagination.

Powerful Stress Relieving Creative Visualizations The act of creative visualization is to create an image in your mind that affects you in a positive way. Athletes have been taught for years how to creatively visualize an outcome that makes them happy. They close their eyes and see themselves winning the race or the game and imagine the feeling they will have during the event. This same technique can be used for your meditation. A very empowering and relaxing way to do this is to design a sacred space using your imagination. Create a space that becomes your private retreat and sanctuary, where you can return to and visualize often in your mind while meditating.

In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present10

Here's How to Create a Sacred Space Using Your Thoughts and Imagination: As you begin to meditate, picture a peaceful scene that you find relaxing. Perhaps it's the beach or a mountaintop or a lush garden. Build the scene in your mind, adding beautiful details so that it's a warm and welcoming space for you to visit in your mind during your meditation. For example, if you find a garden to be calming, create a bench where you will sit in the garden. See a grove of trees surrounded by flowers blooming in a multitude of color. Listen for the sound of birds chirping, along with the soft breeze blowing through the trees. Tilt your head back and feel the warmth of the sun on your face... Breathe in slow and deep and exhale fully, releasing the air from deep within you. In this imaginary garden of your making, slip your shoes off and sink your feet deep into the soft grass, flexing your toes. As you breathe in again deeply, take notice of the flowers as their scent fills the garden. Relax and spend some time in your garden, noticing the sights, smells and sounds of nature. Now if you wish, while in your garden, you can let go of whatever is troubling you. You may choose to invite a spirit guide or angel to sit with you on the bench, who will listen to you as you share your thoughts and concerns. You might create a lake around the garden or a waterfall, and as you swim, you release the cares into the water and watch as they float away. Perhaps a pet from your childhood joins you in the garden and you spend time with them, petting and playing with them, forgetting your cares of the day. Continue building this garden in great detail each day during your ten minute meditation and visualization until you can see it fully in your mind and know it well. Then claim this scene as your sacred space. Know that you can return there anytime, all you need to do is to sit quietly, breathe deeply and imagine this scene in your mind. In this space, you can relax and spend a few minutes there every day. These suggestions of active ten minute meditations are just a few examples of the ways you can create a mediation practice that is right and comfortable for you. Practiced daily, meditation can become a profound spiritual practice which can make a significant impact on your day and create a sense of relaxation and well-being. Spirituality Today By James Wren II In today's community it might be hard for people to find ways to slow down from their busy schedule, especially in the United States. Many people want to find ways to practice their spirituality or religion more by wanting to go to church, the temple, etc., but can’t because they have too much going on all of the time. To me there is no excuse for not practicing spirituality every day. There are many ways to incorporate your spirituality into your every day life without it being time consuming. The easiest way to practice is by just simply talking to your higher power. By doing this you are building a stronger relationship with the higher power, which will in return make you feel more empowered. Also by using this method you will be getting thoughts out of your mind that may link to thoughts/ideas that you may have not thought about that will help you tremendously, or an old idea you had at one time may come back to help you. I usually jokingly say that doing this a few times throughout the day is kind of like a few “power meditations. All jokes aside it is a bit like meditating because at that moment in time it is just you and the connection you are having with your higher power which will allow higher power energy to come to you. This energy can help you feel better, think more clearly, and have an all around better day. This next method I personally do is my favorite by far but a lot of people may not think of it in the way I do. I love to sit in the shower at the end of the day and meditate. There is an energy that is completely amazing when doing this. This time alone can be used to reflect on the day, month, year, or a lifetime. Many great ideas I have had come to me through my nightly session of this. Some people may ask what the difference is between regular meditations and meditating in the shower is, and the answer is simple. The energy you feel with the two types are very different. The energy of the water combining with the already high energy from the meditation is astounding. On a side note for meditation, lying in bed is a very over looked time to practice meditation. I love to lie in bed and just connect myself to the higher power and just become a better person. People who start doing these two methods will be surprised at how many thoughts run through their head that they may have never thought before. Some of there sessions may actually turn out to be life changing for people. I personally have had many powerful sessions and I would love for others to experience what I have felt. If people just try these ways I guarantee that no one will be disappointed. There are plenty of ways that I haven't touched on that one can use spirituality in their everyday life but those are the few I most commonly use. I would love everyone to have the connection they want with their higher power, so these are just some ways I can have a hand in helping people achieve this. I also just want people to slow down these days and take time to appreciate the small things in life and also appreciate mother Earth. When people slow down they notice the world in a more broad perspective and appreciate everything much more. I hope this helps people in their life long spiritual quests.

Who Are You Really? By Eve Wilson Who are you? You are an eternal, remarkable, unbreakable God Being. What are you doing here on earth? Building a body/soul to birth your Self into the world! As an eternal God Being on earth, you have a soul, which is a body of learning that you’ve been creating for many lifetimes. It is much bigger than what you can experience at one time in your body. It contains so many skills, experiences and abilities that you will be able to access as you are ready to use them. But like most people at this time, you probably experience yourself with limitations which are what focuses your energy into building the particular strengths, skills and experiences that your soul has contracted to accomplish in this life time. As you accomplish those things, you will increasingly integrate the higher level gifts that you possess. As you fulfill your life contracts so that you those higher levels of soul your God Self is to live within your experience and run your greatest potential. To use a metaphor, once the driver can get in and drive it. Your real the vehicle, your body/soul is an extension over time is able to ascend to a level of where oneness with you, the eternal God Being is

can integrate increasingly able life to fulfill your the vehicle is built self is the driver; of yourself, which consciousness experienced.

Looking at your life from this perspective, your body, emotions and mind are all part of your vehicle; they are undergoing development and are limited in certain ways in order to develop the gifts that your God Being needs to possess. As those vehicles grow to fulfill their contracts, they also increasingly reveal the presence of your true self. When you see your life from the biggest perspective, you realize that to your true self, everything that happens here is very brief. The difficulties disappear in the bigger picture and what you keep is the mastery you have gained. The difficulties then become interesting stories to share with friends and future generations. Maintaining something of this perspective makes it easier to face the difficulties of life. This isn’t a pass or fail test, it is just a step in the ongoing adventure of self expression and experience. There will come a time for every creature in this world where all contracts for growing through restriction will be fulfilled and all forms of life will awaken to our true selves. It will be like an alarm clock going off, where folks suddenly recognize that they can move on from limitation into unity with the divine within. This is happening now for increasing numbers of people and also for other life forms as well. The awakening is scattered here and there, one from this group and two from another, etc. For those undergoing this experience there is generally an option of pushing the snooze button or of just getting out of bed, but eventually all slumbering souls will awaken and their old restrictions will begin to fall away as they increasingly discover their enlightened consciousness within. There comes a change of perspective allowing reactions to life and choices to come from a deeper place of clarity and love.

Who Are You Really? continued

You are probably undergoing this process to a greater or lesser degree already. You can still choose to distract yourself by continuing to identify with your old limitations, but if you are ready to accept your new experience, you can focus increasingly on that blossoming truth within. You’ve probably already noticed an increasing sense that God isn’t far away, but right here present within you. If you want, you can extend a conscious welcome to your God Self to drive the vehicle of your life and see where it goes! It will take time to pass over control from your limited self to your God Self, to integrate your higher consciousness and let go of old restrictions. Think of this process as driver’s education, more to educate the vehicle, than the driver in this instance! But, simply welcoming God within you into every circumstance and giving your God Being authority to work out your problems, to organize your life and affairs, to direct your emotions and your thoughts along the optimal paths for self realization is an excellent place to start! You can live this welcome to your God Self moment by moment. Or you can extend it whenever you remember that you aren’t really your body, emotions or mind, but that you are really an Enlightened God Being waking up within your own life! Invite God in and let go, let your higher consciousness coordinate the big stuff and enjoy being present in your life, right where you are now. It will take patience to allow life to bring together the opportunities that are right for you, but you will find that when they do come together it will be better than you could have imagined, and easier as well. So, you see, my enlightened God Being Friends, you really are wonderful! Psyche’s Corner – Tales of Animal Wisdom Black and White, With the Color of Blue…. Too Kitties of Love and Healing By Rev. Patricia Hull-Anglin

There has always been a karmic connection with the cats of my life. Instant love with my cats, just like instant love with the men in my life, they have come in colors of black, white, and blue. Many years ago, there was a feline cat which had a silver blue cast color that came to live on parent’s county estate, my father named, “Blue”. She was a studious mother of several kittens, an excellent hunter within her country realm of spacious fields she amply fed her kittens. My family admired her resilience with special respect because of her deep devotion to her babies. Although, the family of cats always remained wild, they were loved, with food subsidies of scraps from our table. Blue, had two pregnancies, of which she gave birth to kittens in my family’s back yard. We never knew what became of the kittens, as she lived a wild life and was too shy to be touched by us; even with our loving respect. Then, there was a time, we noticed she wasn’t around to question us with begging eyes and we knew she was no longer with us. We never knew what happened… except she was gone. But again, that was many years ago. The name “Blue” stuck with me as a shy silver cat with a blue cast with character that I couldn’t quite explain. Over the years, I’ve noticed several individuals that have come into my life as studious, but shy with “Blue-cat” overtones in their personalities. How hard they work, how much they give to their “children or obligations”. They never give up and they always put others before themselves. They are shy to except praise. They are self sacrificing, deeply loving souls, just like the “Blue-cat” with SILVER fur. Now, allow time to speed time forth until last summer. A friend gave us a beautiful long haired creamy white cat, we named Spirit. The cat dander aggravated both me and my son’s allergies, within four days our eyes were itching and watery, plus our breathing was affected. Too late, we had already fallen in love with Spirit but could not live with him. I called Elizabeth Barton, who took my plight into her women’s healing group. The next night the previous owner retrieved Spirit back to save us from suffering while I was not home. When, I arrived back home more tears flowed from a broken heart than from watery allergic eyes. I drove immediately to the previous owner’s house to say my farewells to Spirit.

Psyche’s Corner – Tales of Animal Wisdom Black and White, With the Color of Blue…. Too Kitties of Love and Healing Continued

Elizabeth’s healing group still worked a small miracle. Sometimes, we are healed in a special way and don’t fully understand why things can’t work out because God has other plans. Then an opportunity presented short haired kitties that lived outside of which my allergies could tolerate. Just a few weeks later our neighbors in the duplex house behind our house asked for us to help feed the two feral cats that had become dependent for them to feed, one was black and one was silver-blue with white paws. We agreed, by calling out these wild cats by their color of their fur; “Blackie” and “Blue”. We did not think before naming the kitties about the politically or socially incorrectness of screaming out into the neighborhood (of which we have done several times in worrisome concern” “Blackie….Blackie…Blue …”) since, we have been ashamed we might insult someone, but these names have stuck. There came another couple of months and our be-gone neighbors later moved out, leaving us the permanent caretakers of these wild cats. Blackie, was our favorite, she took quickly to our love. She moved into our home not causing allergic reactions. She moved into our hearts by doing a little “Blackie Hop” of jumping up as a request to “pet” her. She loves, both giving and receiving. Since I’ve learned that Blackie is a HEALING CAT with HEALING ENERGIES!!! She always goes to anyone in need of healing. In fact, she had a special connection with our landlord (regardless of desiring increased money disposition) reassured him whenever he had a broken arm. Also, carefully watching and showing love when I was injured or when my husband is ill. Over the last year, Blackie has solidified our family ties, drawing us together to call each other “Mama” and “Daddy” and our college age son (my husband’s step-son) to include a purring cat. Blackie generously shares her loving attention making sure she shares equal time between us. The acceptance of Blackie, has bound us together as family in a special way. This healing cat has healed our family. As for Blue, she or he is just now allowing us to touch him/her for the first time. But, he will only come to us on his terms. Our family is still growing…all because of Blackie and Blue and a little Spirit coming into our lives. Reverend Patricia Hull-Anglin Ordained Minister with the Universal Church of the Master.
