I would like to share with you several events that have affected me these past few months. I consider myself to be open to Spirits direction, and feel that Spirit leads me, and if it is somewhere they want me, to be they will find a way for that to happen. Earlier this summer I learned that the Gyuto Vajrayana Center in San Jose would be hosting a teaching by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in San Jose in October. The Center offered complimentary seating to clergy who submitted a registration form. The teaching was to be followed by a Post Teaching Interfaith Gathering that would allow for reflection and discussion of the Dalai Lama’s teaching. I passed this information on to those of you who had email and a number of you signed up to attend both the teaching and the gathering which was to be held at the San Jose Convention Center. A few days before the event I received an email confirming my attendance and also indicating I had been selected to sit on stage with other invited guests and members of the ordained Buddhist sangha for the teaching. I read that email three times to be sure I was reading it correctly. I certainly had not expected that, but in my heart knew that Spirit wanted UCM represented on that stage. I remember checking in with the person assigning the seating and climbing the stairs to the stage and feeling the energy of UCM with me. I felt UCM was being honored and by climbing those stairs UCM was coming into a new energy of being. There were 12,000 people who attended this teaching on Eight Verses for Training the Mind. Reading these verses is part of His Holiness’ regular devotional practice, and he regards it as one of his main sources of inspiration. I found His Holiness to be very lively and engaging. From where I was sitting on the stage I did not feel a blast of energy, and I had been concerned about how much energy might be in the area where I was. There were huge screen monitors throughout the room so those in the back could see as it was an extremely large room. One of these was behind me. I was sitting on the side of the stage and His Holiness was in the center; his energy was directed towards the audience and the energy from the audience was directed towards him and I felt a bit between the energies around me. It was several days afterwards that I was giving all this some thought and then felt like I had missed the energy of the event; however I also realized that it had been three days since seeing the Dalai Lama and I was still smiling. Even today as I write about this experience it brings a smile to my face and joy in my heart.

After the teaching 600 of us moved into a nearby banquet room to continue the reflections under the leadership of Prof. Huston Smith, Rev. Matthew Fox, Rabbi Michael Lerner, Rev. Dorsey Blake, Acharya Prabodh Chaitanya, Dr Thupten Jinpa, Noah Levine, Bishop Koshin Ogui, Rev. Murshida Ana Perez-Christi, Ann Marie Sayers, and Samina Sundas. I found it inspiring to see and hear so many people committed to building interfaith relationships and to making some new friends as well. Prior to seeing the Dalai Lama I had registered to attend a seminar in Seattle, Washington. When I read about the program I felt Spirit wanted me to attend; I sent in my registration trusting upon that feeling. Some time after registering I learned about a situation involving this group with another group and in my mind felt it could have been handled in a different way and was not so sure I wanted to get involved with this group and its energy. I even questioned Spirit about still attending. I never felt Spirit said go or do not go, only to remember my original intent and thoughts when I signed up to go. I decided to trust my original intent, but with Plan B to give myself permission to see the sight’s in Seattle if I felt uncomfortable once the seminar began. I am so glad I listened to Spirit. Needless to say I did not use my backup plan. I met some delightful people, some from this area, along with three ladies from Florida. These ladies had attended Reverend Richard Smith’s church before his transition. There were 500 of us in attendance representing 14 countries. During one session I sat next to a lady from France, and could have listened to her talk forever. I loved her accent. We did some clearing processes including one that involved clearing one I had ever done before and to be truthful, not one I had heard either. I have to say that I feel more limber than I have in a long time.
our bones: not about
Upon returning home I jumped back into my “normal” routine which pushed my body a bit over the top so to say. Then over a week ago I developed a very sore throat which turned into a very bad cold. I even missed a day at the office, several parties I would loved to have attended and still have a pretty bad cough and tire easily. I thank you for your concern; however this is the best cold I have ever had! I am releasing 70 years of stuff from my bones! I recall the energy of the meditation coming into my body and felt it filter throughout my system. Now that I am home, thoughts about events and situations that occurred many many years ago are all coming up into my mind to be released! Every time I blow my nose I am blessing the Kleenex with wondrous thoughts of release and joy. I feel like a kid again. It’s the best cold I have ever had! This little angel is in awe at hearing God through the shell. He is learning to listen to God, as we all should do for spiritual growth. Not only should we listen but use the information given to us. Some times we get lazy or in a hurry and don’t use the information we receive. Then we have to face the consequences. All of us have times when we don’t pay attention. Sometimes the “inner feeling” is the guidance we get and should follow, just like “hearing”. Some years ago I felt I should not park my car on the street but park in the driveway. I analyzed it and thought everyone parks on the street my car would be okay. Through the night someone hit my car and damaged it. Then I remembered the warning to move my car off the street. A woman was driving on a dark road late at night with no traffic. She was getting sleepy but heard a loud voice say “Pull Over”. Not listening to the warning it came again louder and said “Pull over NOW”. Just as she pulled off the road a large truck came around the curve and would have hit her if she had not listened. Another woman felt her dead mother’s presence urging her to go to another room while she sat on her couch. While she was in another room she heard a loud noise. The chandelier fell hitting the glass table shattering glass which would have hit her had she not listened. Two women were returning home from the store when their car stalled on a busy street. Behind them was a speeding out of control car. Suddenly their car started and was pulled off the street avoiding an accident. They both felt a strong presence guiding them. A man driving home late a night after work wanted to hurry home. He heard a voice telling him to take another way home. Being tired he didn’t listen. His car went down an embankment which totaled his car and injured him. Needless to say he was sorry he had not listened. A woman was home sick in bed. She woke up when she heard her dead mother say “move over”. Immediately she moved over in bed just before a glass light above her fell and broke where she had been laying. Just like listening prayer is very powerful and can bring amazing results too. Prayer is always answered in a way that is good. Sometimes it takes a little longer than we expect. People really appreciate prayer. More are familiar with The Lord’s Prayer, especially older people. Saying this prayer makes the moment with the person sacred, you connect soul to soul.

Years ago I had been praying for a special person in my life when one morning I woke up hearing a loud voice calling my name. There was a powerful light filled with more love than I can describe. God spoke to me and said “Your prayer will be answered but not the way you expect, for "My" way is a better way. Everything will be okay; there will be a change in the situation.” Being filled with this strong light and love took away some fears I had for years and left me feeling peaceful. A woman had a stroke and could not talk. Her family asked me to visit her. I said The Lord’s Prayer and she said it with me. She never spoke again. A few days later she died. On another visit with a woman that also could not speak I again said The Lord’s Prayer. After the prayer she mouthed “Thank you” and had a peaceful look on her face. Not long after she died. At the end of life people see and hear some unusual and amazing things. They see with their spiritual eyes. Some of the People see Jesus, family, or friends at their bedside. Sometimes it is in dreams. As they relate these things they are relieved that someone will listen and not judge them. There are many stories about hearing God, seeing Jesus and angels. This is a wonderful gift when they share these experiences with us. As Minister’s we are fortunate when we can also see the same thing. Reverend Irmadean Reynolds has been a member of UCM since 1982. She resides in Northern California with her husband. She visits many in nursing homes and has painted an angel for our Christmas Card for 10 years. As a celebration of Reverend Irmadean’s amazing work lovingly donated to UCM for our Christmas Cards all of the angel paintings throughout the magazine as well as the cover are those painted by Reverend Irmadean.

This is a time of loss, loss of money, jobs, security, health as well as the loss of a loved one. Whether lost through war, accidents, illness or aging, loss, dear ones must be grieved and grieving in a healthy way can be your bridge to tomorrow, a better tomorrow. We have had multiple experiences of the challenge of loss, the most devastating the loss of our son. Sometimes it is through devastating loss that one develops the tools for coping with loss on a day to day basis. We would like to share that journey with you all, our extended spiritual family. ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙
The Loss The shock The journey The lessons
The Loss: We will never hear a phone insisting in the middle of the night again without returning to the shock of that call. Our son, Patrick, was unconscious; the paramedics couldn’t get him started again. We dressed n clothes that I still have, but never worn since.
The Revs Tom and Mary Garry have been active in the UCM ministry for the past 30+ years. Tom has served as President of The Center for Infinite Growth, offering Sunday service, sponsoring a multitude of talented students, offering classes, authoring articles. Mary has supported these activities and offered classes and articles independently. Tom served for several years as Vice President and as a Trustee of the Board of Directors of UCM.
I could hear them working in his bedroom, one of the paramedics came out to be with us, and I knew then he was gone. They asked if they could call someone. Did they know Janet Childs? Of course they did, it was Santa Clara. I made the most difficult call of all, I called his sister, my first born, and they were the closest. I always thought that was great, they would have each other after I was gone, that was the way it was supposed to work. But it hadn’t, she said they would come right away, I needed her strength. Tom called Patrick Sr.; they had done a wonderful job of co-fathering Patrick Jr. none of the left over “issues” of a failed marriage between them. We called our friend Carolyn and asked her to call Debbie and Sandy. They all came, we sang, and held and blessed our boy and then they took him away. Our life continued, forever changed.

The shock: The shock from loss must be honored, it is nature’s protection. When something so powerful happens there is a limit to the rate the cells in your body can absorb it, above all honor that rate. You will have plenty of time to “really” deal with the loss, trust us on that one. Our friends sustained us in that initial window. As with many people, especially in California, family was not immediate, they came on silver wings as quickly as flights were available, but I doubt that we could have survived with any quality without our friends. They held the world together while we shuddered in our shells. They looked through our address book and phoned who needed to be phoned. They were sure that we ate something, rested, took our medicine and screened away the clumsy curious. They went to the store, when we couldn’t go out into a world without Patrick. We had the added blessing of a cadre of psychics who called with messages. “He had gotten through into the arms of the Great Mother”; “He was okay, he loved us.” Many offered readings but we were unable to accept their generosity for over a year. I was afraid if I fully touched his energy too soon, it would have broken my heart. I wrote. I didn’t which seemed commitment. I self at first, then people in “The child club. I them and saved a work there, open and
call it journaling, like a wrote letters to my we began to find Club”, the lost a wrote to one of a copy. Fran was colleague, always comforting.
Funeral arrangements waited until the family arrived, our daughter went with us. No-one pressured us, tried to sneak in add-ons, we had talked about it in general, Patrick wanted to be cremated, but we rented a casket so that there could be a viewing, especially for his sister, daughters and nephew. We spent a lot of money, but at that time, I just didn’t care and I’m still not sorry. It was a great sendoff and allowed the family to grieve together. We went to our favorite restaurant China Sticks, on very short notice they put together a great meal for 200 or so people. I was a little afraid that I wouldn’t be able to go back and enjoy it again; but that didn’t turn out to be the case, it’s still our favorite restaurant. We had asked for donations for Patrick’s girls in lieu of flowers, and everyone was very generous. We put the money in separate accounts for them and only take it out for special events, reminding them that it is money from their daddy’s friends that they gave in his memory. It helps them I think.

The first few weeks we were cocooned in our home. Then we ventured carefully out. I didn’t care that I burst into tears the first time I saw his favorite diet drink on the shelf, and knew that I wouldn’t be buying it for him ever again. Tom more private waited until he was in the car for his tears. Needless to say our shopping lists were short or uncompleted. Friends called from the store, “need anything?” We couldn’t think of anything. “Really, can we just drop off some noodle packages with vegetables that make a quick and tasty meal?” Oh, that sounded good. “Hi, just made a meatloaf, can I drop it by with some potatoes and green beans?” Oh, that sounded good too. ”Hi, how about salmon and aioli tomorrow, I’ll bring all the ingredients, cook at your house.” Corry arrived, ingredients and talent in tow. It was delicious, we couldn’t help it, and we laughed at one of her outrageous stories. Then we knew we were on our journey.
The Journey: Emotions are so powerful and by their very nature unpredictable, precluding a fixed formula for response; yours and your comforters. The loss was so overwhelming that the little patch together strategies from your life tool box are inadequate. We had to face it head on, understanding that to fail to do so would have devastating consequences. Assessing what was at risk was the first step. We had often heard that couples often separated after the loss of a child and we wanted to avoid that at all healthy cost. So we discussed it with a counselor. Elizabeth told us that individuals, who ran from their grief, often ran from each other. There was no hiding from grief when you were looking at the other person who felt it as deeply as your self. We talked about our basic personality differences; Mary an extrovert able to draw energy from just being around friends, talking to them, talking talking, lots of raw emotion. I learned to cry in the shower, still do to this day, just not as often. Tom an introvert drawing his energy from quiet meditation, prayer, he could be with people, if they didn’t need to talk about everything. He was best served if they could just be present with him.

We also needed to guard against measuring our grief against each other; grief comparison shopping is the worst consumption. Grief ebbs and flows like the tides, only slightly less tied to the moon. It flows with the individual, not the group. I kept notes on what worked to comfort me, and it was amazing, everything and nothing, it was all timing. Sometimes I wanted to be hugged; sometimes I couldn’t stand to be touched. Sometimes I wanted to talk about it; sometimes I couldn’t endure speaking of it, or was afraid that I would fall apart. It was particularly challenging in the work environment, people who hadn’t seen me wanted to express their condolences, occasionally just before my presentation. It is a tricky business, a note anytime is great. If it comes via e-mail, even if you open it at work, you can immediately save it and go back to it in private. Do acknowledge the loss however, I still remember those who did and didn’t. Spare the griever the platitudes, I know he is in a better place; I just wanted him in my place. Later you can become philosophical, the first six months (for me anyway) it’s all about you and your immediate grievers, Tom, Patrick’s sister, daughters, nephew. When in doubt, ask. “I’m so sorry for your loss, is there anything I can do?” Better, offer something, “can I drop dinner by Wed night?”, what is the most difficult chore for you these days? Shopping, laundry, sorting?? Just as the books say, the first round of all the holidays, were painful. We chose to stay engaged, when the first Thanksgiving came around, we filled the 2nd Harvest food bag with some of Patrick’s favorites, pop tarts, Honey nut Cheerios, dressing mix. We went to Carolina with his daughters for the Christmas holidays. Our daughter Kathy had a blue (his favorite color) tree up and lit in our home when we arrived. We cried but it was wonderful; we still put the tree up as a 2nd tree each year. After the first year, you will need to connect with groups who do commemorative events to be able to continue honoring your loved one. The community at large wants you to be “getting over it” by then. You won’t be getting over it, but you can be getting on with it, life that is. You will find that the sky is blue again, roses are soft again, chocolate still melts in your mouth, and a cold beer on at hot day is refreshing. Returning joy to your life takes work; attention, and commitment, but it is the thing you need to do, for your partner, your family, yourself and most of all for your loved one.

The Lessons: Pre loss: Trite as it may sound, live and love with the understanding that there will be loss. Try and keep relationships and behavior clear, so that regret for your own choices won’t encumber your days and nights. Accept that change is, always has and will be; change includes loss, even good change. Someday in someway significant change/loss will impact you. Don’t let that make you avoid loving; the sweetness of loving is well worth the pain of separation. Earth life is meant to be temporary.
Loss: Honor your cellular time line, but don’t run from the pain or your support. That which doesn’t kill you will indeed make you more and like it or not a grieving heart still beats. Allow (their unavoidable anyway) memories, sweet and sour. It will keep your loved one whole. Making the lost one a Saint, complicates the remaining relationships. You will interestingly, be able to work on the relationship with them after physical death. Don’t be too quick to give away everything of theirs, for awhile I saved every scrap of paper that our son had written on, it reminds you that they were really here. The clothes, tools etc that I was able to give away later, consciously, became a sweet memory and a more meaningful gift.
Shock: Shock is a protection from having to deal with the total magnitude of the loss. You may feel and fear “going crazy” but you aren’t crazy and it won’t last forever. It is a good time to write of your pain, not only does that externalize some of it, but it will be there for a benchmark to validate that you have moved on the path that is living. Don’t make any major decisions beyond “arrangements” in this window and get some help with those. Our daughter and my brother were incredible support, as was the funeral director Debbie. We were very blessed.

It is expensive, and I can see why our Irish family had always given the envelope (money) at the wake. Check on the family customs, a woman in one of my grief sessions was appalled to have received it, feeling better only when the others were able to share that it was their custom. People will want to bring something, we let everyone and when it began to back up in the refrigerator we passed it on. You may not feel like eating, but the people who come by will and you won’t have to worry about it. Journey: It has been 4 ½ years and we are still on the journey. I remember hearing parents say “I think of them everyday,” and I wondered that it could be so. But it is for us, we think of him often, sometimes briefly, oft times remembering and telling a Patrick story, sometimes thinking how he would enjoy something we are enjoying. We try then to enjoy it for three. Sometimes speaking to him when we feel him near, or asking his counsel, especially around issues regarding his girls. Early in the journey choose carefully, only you will know where you are and how you feel. Reach out to the friends and family that give you energy rather than take it. Don’t say yes to invitations without giving yourself time to think them over. We just told people that we couldn’t answer right then, we would call them tomorrow. We rarely accepted invitations without checking with the other anyway, and we just told people we weren’t as clear as we needed to be with ourselves. Almost everyone understood and appreciated our candor, and if they didn’t ……well, it probably wouldn’t have been an energy giving event would it. Find someone, somewhere, to talk and get your grief support. You will need an outlet where you won’t have to abort your feelings because of the response around you. My counselor advised me not to join a grief group, afraid that my “mothering” instinct would surface too soon and I wouldn’t deal with my own issues. It was good advice for me, and probably would be for most of our empathetic crowd. Regretfully, Tom and I have had more opportunities to deal with grief. Two years after loosing her brother our daughter was diagnosed with stage three adenocarcinoma of her breast. She fought the good fight for three and ½ years. Tom and I moved back to North Carolina to support her. But July 8, 2009 she joined her brother. We have remained in North Carolina to support her son, only fifteen at the time. He lives with his stepfather; we are across the street an outreach away. We will write of this experience, but as was her loss it is too soon, too soon.

Let us begin by journeying back to an epoch long lost to the mists of antiquity, named by some as the golden ages of Lemuria and Atlantis, where all lived harmoniously together and did honor one another for their individual gifts and uniqueness. This was an era when Earth Maker shaped the land, and sacred knowledge was passed on by the elders of each tribe or clan, who, by being traditionally considered the protectors of wisdom, were the repository of a precise and well articulated earth science. Such wisdom, gained only through an inherent humility and reverence for all of life, was acquired largely by the comprehensive investigation of how the threads of the natural world were intricately woven into the multifaceted rainbow web of creation. Therefore it becomes quite feasible to assume that our so called primitive ancestors embraced a richly versatile world view of shared consciousness, based largely on the understanding that all life is deeply connected by an essential spiritual bond. This bond further empowered through the use of ceremony and myth, not only enhanced the respectful relationship between the tribe and the earth, but would have been expressed outwardly as an implicit reverence for the sacred balance that holds the Earth mother, her creatures, humanity and the cosmos in harmony. Moreover, eastern traditions such as Buddhism, and the Theosophical Society in the west, which bases some of its teachings on the Buddhist model, have an inherent understanding that an energetic or auric field surrounds every living being. Humans, animals and plants process their own individual energy fields whose harmonious state is essential to good health. Rocks, water, and other inorganic material also have their associated fields, each unique in its own right. Legend says that mysterious dynamic place markers, such as stone circles, standing stones, crosses, barrows and cairns, were meticulously constructed by our Celtic ancestors, who, understanding their special relationship and reliance on the natural world, placed these artifacts at precise locations determined to be the most beneficial for amplifying the interplay of cosmic and earthly forces used to replenish the Earth's auric field, thereby strengthening the subtle energetic grid that encompasses all of space and time.

A renewed interest in these antiquities, which are generally believed to predate Christianity by thousands of years, all started in the 1920's, when Alfred Watkins, looking out across the landscape of the Bredwardine Hills, located in Herefordshire, on the border between England and Wales, experienced a revelation. By some process independent of the rational mind, he glimpsed a vision of the countryside that had been totally forgotten, an image so powerful that it was to transform the existing attitudes towards prehistoric cultures in a remarkable way. What he saw spread out was an astonishing network sites; such as earthen wells, churches built on preponds, crossroads, sacred Rowan and Thorn, the latter power for our shamanic
across the landscape in front of him of lines linking all manner of ancient mounds and encampments, holy Christian foundations, moats and groves and woodland glades of Oak, being the long lost secret places of ancestors.
Later, Watkins, who was cataloging these enigmatic intersecting lines Earth, Ley lines, which was an obsolete word for fire.
to spend the rest of life exploring and phenomena, would name the strange of light, woven over the face of the possibly taken from the Saxon leye,
As a final thought, when approached with a childlike curiosity, all are invited to enter this normally invisible world, a world where sacred sites appear inviting, protective spirits seem to hover around, as the veils of vanished aeons evaporate and the past merges with the present. Thus by focusing our attention on the subtle side of nature we create a critical bridge between intellect and intuition, which can only help strengthen the delicate balance desperately needed in a world where rampant rationality has brought us quite possibly to the brink of an ecological crisis! Minister Steve Waites became a UCM Minster on Sept 10th 1997 and graduated with his Bachelor of Theology Degree during the UCM conference in 2004. Steve graduated this year with his Master of Theology with UCM. Minister Waites is currently in the UCM Doctor of Divinity Program.

You don’t have to have clients to work on to do that. In each circumstance and moment of your life you are God present in the world. True Divine Being is present within the world of your body, emotions, mind and spirit; within the world of your families and jobs and social interactions; within the spiritual community of alternative people in the world because you are there. You are the presence of God consciousness wherever you are. Because you are that, if you look outside of yourself for proof, for power, for affirmation of who you are or what you should do, you are disempowering yourself and you will attract others who will be happy to take what you are giving away. You will attract lower energies if you try to orient your responsibility for yourself toward those outside of yourself, whether in person or in spirit. You are the most divine presence within your world. You need to use and trust who you are and what you have and let it grow. This is one of the biggest challenges I see for graduates of my program. They find it hard to trust their selves. The lower self tells us we are not good enough and we believe it. People go looking for others to tell them what else they need, not realizing that they already have it. Each of you, being a presence of God/Goddess within your world has a purpose in each moment. Pay attention, stay tuned, trust that purpose and grow it. Being faithful to the inner wisdom in each moment will lead you to the larger directions that you seek in your life. I know many people think that having gotten your certificate as a healer means that you should be ready to be a healer for others. It may. However, what you really received was training in being a unique leader in your life. You have the ability to discern what God needs to do in the present moment and do it. It’s very personal, it is divinely guided and it may begin small to develop the absolute integrity of your relationship with yourself and your truth before you go out and begin working serving in your community. Or it may be that through serving you will grow clearer and more trustworthy. Either way, you need to work your truth and trust your process to selfrealization. There are many, many people doing spiritual things in the world. Many of them are impressive in the things they can do. However, most of them don’t have the level of truth and discernment of spiritual things required to know the spiritual implications of what they are doing. You do. You know the difference between unconditionally loving energies and those which are lower and have agendas. However, many of my grads forget this. They see an outer presentation, they notice phenomena that people are able to do, they feel an energy that seems big and they are impressed. They begin to look outside of their self, thinking here is something better than me and they want to be followers, to be guided, to be healed, to be children again. I understand this, because I also long for that. For someone outside of myself to tell me what to do, to take responsibility for my needs so I don’t have to do it myself. However, most of the time, I need to do it my self; because it is in doing it myself that I will grow into the person my divine self needs. It builds my soul muscles to use the gifts that I have to take me to the next step in my evolution. It isn’t just about getting the outer change done; it’s much more about the journey to that resolution which grows my soul. It is the same for you. In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present
17
Most of the people doing spiritual work are not as discerning as you! There are lots of spiritual energies that are used to creating phenomena through people who will channel them. If these energies are not unconditionally loving, they will impose their own agendas on others. Examples in the old world would be religious groups who have healing ministries and who prophesy. They often have people who do extremely impressive healings during their gatherings. However, they exact a price. The price is your obedience to the belief systems which tell you that unless you follow their way, you will burn in hell. There are entities that you adopt with the religion that control you through fear and block your ability to exercise your free will. This is very comfortable for some people. They like to be led. It is not wrong or bad, it is an opportunity that souls may choose for a time. Modern versions of this are spirits that may create phenomena such as physical healing for you, but may leave devices and channels for entities within your fields that leave you open to their presence in your life so that they become the energies and ideas that guide you and use your power. Whenever you want to give your power away, there are energies in spirit which will take it for you. This can feel easier than being powerful. That is what we are clearing when we clear entities from someone during a healing treatment. These are contractual agreements entered into to give our power away. Once we sign on it may feel normal to us, but may cause us to lose individual focus, and direction. We can do the same thing through parasitic emotional relationships such as partners or friends or business relationships where others use so much of our energy that we don’t have enough to move forward in our personal evolution. These things can be quite comfortable for a time. We grew up with these types of relationships and so they feel very normal to us, until we realize that we are exhausted or feel stuck and we don’t know why. Innately, any of these situations are fine as long as you stay awake and don’t give your power away. If you attend other gatherings, classes, healings, get into relationships, stay awake and responsible for what you are receiving and what you are giving. Stay in your leadership roll. I recommend that you meditate before you enter into these things, as if you were doing a healing on a client. Look ahead through the activity or event or relationship, and through the presenter, healer or partner and look deeply into the energy to notice if it feels unconditionally loving and clear, or if underneath there is something that is not. You could prepare for this process by tuning in with St. Germain, Quan Yin or any trusted Ascended Master or Archangel. Let you sense through their energy like we did in the discernment of spirit class and remember what unconditional love feels like. Then as you look into the energy of the event or presenter, healer, or relationship, check and see what hidden agendas are there. Ask what opportunities will be present for giving your power away. Look beyond the event into your own aura and see what might come home with you, wanting to have a parasitic or blocking relationship with you. In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present

If you are holding onto your power, you can grow through these opportunities. Just remember that you are a discerning presence of God. Go as a responsible, mature healer to learn through the journey. Hang onto your Self; don’t give your power away. And if you see something going on that is not in unconditional love, you may work with the unconditionally loving beings to understand if there is something you should do to help those out who are being misled by the situation and at the very least to protect or heal yourself and whatever in yourself might desire to be disempower ed. I tell you this, not to make you paranoid, but to make you alert. This world is a workout gym. It isn’t just a comfy couch where you can play in spirit and be a child. You are on the job and if you don’t take responsibility for yourself, you will lose power and focus and be misled. You are a leader, not a sheep. If you feel you have been giving yourself away in personal or spiritual relationships, or if you just feel like you’ve lost focus and power in your life, please return to the basics. Remember the sheet I gave you called ‘Remember’? It came with your class certificate. I’ll put a copy here with this email. Begin with sacred space, merge with your power animals, do candle meditation, chakra tuning, Metatron’s exercise, tune and balance your Tree of Life/Qabalah, and do some body communication. When you get yourself tuned up again, scan your aura and notice where the energy is still not flowing and do some healing on yourself. Then pay attention in your life to how you are doing spiritually, what is affecting you, where you give your power away. This is your workout gym. Stay with your program and you’ll find that you are who you need to be, you have what you need to do to continue to grow into your power. You may always be aware of your areas of weakness; this isn’t the same thing as inadequacies. These are the places where your work is. Commit yourself to become stronger and don’t give up! I plan to do a better job of keeping in touch with you all in the future. I sincerely apologize for this past year where I haven’t been doing a very good job about that. I have been growing so fast it has been all I could do just to keep up with myself. However, with my move to Ann Arbor, I am seeing a light at the end of that tunnel where I will be able to send regular support letters for you. I will explore what else might be helpful for me to offer on journey as guideposts to support you in realizing your power. I have many things in mind, but will have to feel way through this process to know exactly what I will be called to do for you. So keep your eyes out for future emails.

Practicing Eternity, Exploring The TAO (DAO) by Rev. Michael Genzmer The Tao There is something blurred and indistinct Antedating Heaven and Earth. How Indistinct! How Blurred! Yet within it are forms. How dim! How confused! Quiet, though ever functioning. It does nothing, yet through it all things are done. To its accomplishment it lays no credit. It loves and nourishes all things, but does not lord it over them. I do not know its name, I call it the Tao. This was written by Lao-tzu, a legendary sage, some twenty-five hundred years ago. We start with the understanding that the word Tao is un-translatable, and the Tao indefinable. ‘The Tao that can be named is not the Tao’. Taoism is often described as the philosophy of nature. In nature is the nature of all things. No one exists separate and apart from its realm. The Tao follows nature and humans follow the Tao. The human role in Taoism is to recognize Nature and its shape. Just what is the Tao? How should one define the Tao, or does the Tao elude any possible definition? If it exists, what is it like? What are its properties?
Does the Tao Exist? The Tao is above existence and non-existence. Existence is for men who use words But the Tao does not use words. It is as silent as a flower. Words come from the Tao - the Tao produces words But it does not use them. Since the Taoists make no claim that the Tao exists, it saves them a world of trouble in trying to prove the Tao exists. This is really Chinese common sense at its highest. The Chinese word Tao (or Dao) - means in a pure form, the Way of Nature. The word has been translated in many ways: God, Nature, The Absolute, That through which all things have come into being, The Great Void, The Path, The Way, One Light, One Self, One Truth, One Power or One Reality manifesting Itself as everyone and as all things etc. Perhaps a favorite definition is “the reason things are as they are”.

TAO (DAO) by Rev. Michael Genzmer continued Its main sacred text is the Tao Te Ching (Daodejing) which translates as “The Way and its Power” or “The Supreme Way and its Perfect Manifestation”. It is attributed to Lao-tzu. A second sacred text is the book of parables Chuang-Tzu (Zhuang Zi) Inner Chapters which expresses Taoist ideas allegorically. Chuang-Tzu's stories are parables of a kind or tales of wanderers, farmers, scholars, blind men, and Chuang-Tzu himself. The essential doctrine of these two texts is for people to recognize themselves as an integral part of nature and to see change as the way of everything. Observing the human cycle of growth, & decay and death & life / rebirth, is no different from any other thing in nature. Sometimes we Taoists apologize for the fact that Taoism is "simple". It’s simple wisdom strongly suggests its origins are in the shamanic world of pre-Dynastic China. Living close to the earth, one could clearly see the wisdom of living in non-interference with the course of life and letting things go their way. This approach recognizes the importance of "the moment" and the "suchness of things"; and, overall, Nature - not good or bad, kind or cruel - just Nature. Paramahansa Yogananda likened the Tao to the Cosmic Sound and Healing Force, AUUUMMMM, and/or the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost. For Yogananda, the Tao is ‘That which comes from out of the center, the void, pure emptiness, springs duality (yin yang), and from there 10,000 things’. The moment of creation, of expansion, the glue, the indescribable fabric of existence is the Tao, the Holy Ghost, or the Auuuummmm. We begin our exploration of the Tao by observing its shape and properties and to discover how we might recognize ourselves as an integral part of nature. We will learn Chinese words (bold) and their concepts (following text) which help to understand how to live with skill in nature by not interfering with the ‘Way and its Perfect Manifestation’. Beginning with –
Tzu-jan – of itself To be steeped in the philosophy and the arts of Taoism, is to discover how Nature acts by observing the Way of Nature. The Taoist explores the wisdom of the way things are of themselves. The Tao works by itself. This is the first principle of the Tao. Its nature is to be, as is said in Chinese, Tzu-jan or that which is ‘of itself’ or ‘itself so’ or ‘the suchness of things’. What about before the beginning, pre-dating Heaven and Earth, what then?
Wu Ji Wu Ji is what ancient Chinese philosophers called the void and boundless state that prevailed before the world was created – the ‘ultimate nothingness’ or wuji. From wuji the universe was formed. These philosophers described the phenomenon of nothingness as it has form, yet is unformed; it has shape, yet is still without shape.

TAO (DAO) by Rev. Michael Genzmer Continued Mystery
Looked at but cannot be seen - it is beneath form; Listened to but cannot be heard - it is beneath sound; Held but cannot be touched - it is beneath feeling; These depthless things evade definition, And blend into a single mystery. In its rising there is no light, In its falling there is no darkness, A continuous thread beyond description, Lining what does not exist; Its form formless, Its image nothing, Its name silence; Follow it, it has no back, Meet it, it has no face.
This phenomenon of nothingness is the source of movement and stillness. Everything in the universe, including yin and yang, is believed to evolve continually from this imperceptible source. It is the origin of dynamic and static states and the mother of yin and yang. If they move they separate. If they remain static, they combine. When something arises out of wuji, the original state of nothingness no longer exists and the state of duality, yin yang, begins. At this point of change, the situation always displays two qualities, yin and yang.
Yin Yang The void of wu ji is yin and the something originating from wu ji is yang. Yin and yang are complementary opposites that unite to form the whole. They are opposite in nature, yet there is a harmonious relationship between them; you must have one to have the other. Both yin and yang have characteristics unique to themselves and the idea of them can be illustrated by the various stages of an objects movement. The beginning of the motion is the birth of yang and the end of motion is the birth of yin. Describing the universe as containing two qualities is how we always divide the world into categories in order to think about it. Compare this and that, to know something by what it is not, otherwise how would we distinguish this and that. In a “world of separation, everything is contradicted by its opposite or opposing side. Darkness contradicts light. Negative contradicts positive. Empty contradicts full. This contradicts that.

TAO (DAO) by Rev. Michael Genzmer Continued
Yin Yang When We see some things as beautiful, Other things become ugly. When We see some things as good, Other things become bad. Being and non-being create each other. Difficult and easy support each other. Long and short define each other. High and low depend on each other. In our physical world we seem to be living in is a world of duality, meaning everything has an opposite. Our physical body is light that is vibrating at such a low frequency that it appears to be solid. Quantum physicists now know that if you raise the vibration of any physical thing high enough it will disappear into light. So everything is light already. At the opposite end of the spectrum of the light that is manifesting as our physical bodies is another body. It is our Light Body; and it is vibrating at such a high frequency it cannot be seen with the physical body’s two eyes. This is the place of wholeness or how the two opposites are harmonized into a complete interrelated unit, Oneness. So at one end of the light spectrum, we have Oneness; while at the opposite end, we have a state of separation or duality where everything is split apart. Shifting attention into the Light Body and the unity way of seeing allows an awareness to come forth in which every seemingly separate thing on the physical plane is made of the exact same One Light. There is only One Light and One Self and One Truth and One Power and One Reality manifesting Itself as everyone and as all things; that is the Way of Nature. Yin and Yang are necessary to form a unity. There is no other life but the One that is living Itself out in all things including the trees, the rocks, the birds and the bees…in and through you and me…and as all the planets, all the stars, and the entire universe … even as the Universe of universes. There is only One Life living Itself out as all the many seeming separate things … unifying all things unto Itself. Omnipresent.
Wu Wei – non-action Living close to nature with the wisdom of living in non-interference, or letting things go their way, brings us to the second principle of the Tao or Wu Wei. Wuwei – sometimes translated as ‘non-action’ is a central tenet of Taoism. In other words, one works with nature with dexterity and balance rather than brute force. ‘Not forcing’ is not inactivity as much as it is in doing nothing out of harmony with the flow of things. It is the sense that the activity of nature is not self-obstructive. It all works together as a unity and does not split apart from itself to do something to itself. As a human this means that we do not get in our own way. Rather, if we move in accord with the way things are then the work is made simple. Going with the grain of the wood means our activity to cut the wood is made easy.
In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present
23
TAO (DAO) by Rev. Michael Genzmer Continued To know something of this wu wei principle is to be “in light” of it. When we are not aware of the light that we are and that all things are, we are in the dark and we are in the “world of separation”. All the beliefs and concepts we hold to be true create a shroud over the light that we are and blocks our awareness of the light, though the light is always there … ever present. Yet we live without the awareness of that light; and therefore, we live in darkness. We cut ourselves off from the Tao, the Way of Nature, which is Life. We allow our beliefs and concepts to cast ourselves into darkness so we live in a state of ignorance. Feelings of guilt arise because through our ignorance we have cut ourselves off from the One Life, the Way of Nature. From the guilt, feelings of frustration arise because we can’t seem to get back to the Wholeness of Being. Something seems to be missing and we can’t get to it. Then feelings of anger come because we seem to be trapped in a mental box we can’t get out of. We become terrified of the Light that we truly are. We become terrified of the Life that is what we really are. We become terrified of the Real Power of our own True Being. We become terrified of the Truth. So we project our fear out into the world and attack it there. All violence in the world comes from this point of anger; and this anger comes from the belief that we are separate from the Tao. In the words of Plato "Be kind--for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
Practicing Eternity In the Beginning There is the Tao All Things Issue From It All Things Return To It Seeing Into Darkness Is Clarity Knowing How To Yield Is Strength Use Your Own Light To Return to the Source of Light This Is Called Practicing Eternity
Te – Virtue One who learns the kind of activity which is in accord with the Tao – this one is said to possess virtue. Te is not used in an ordinary sense of being good rather it is used more in the sense of the healing virtues of a plant. It designates an extraordinary kind of skill at living. Yen Ling-feng says, "Virtue is the manifestation of the Way. The Way is what Virtue contains. Without the Way, Virtue would have no power. Without Virtue, the Way would have no appearance". Te is our entrance to the Tao. Te is what we cultivate. So the secret of Taoism is to get out of one’s own way. One must learn that pushing ourselves actually interferes with everything instead of making us more efficient. So the ‘work’ of a Taoist is one of subtraction, or the elimination of those beliefs and concepts that cover over the Light of Truth, the Way of Nature and our part in Nature.

24
TAO (DAO) by Rev. Michael Genzmer Continued Taoism teaches that we need to have the courage to open more fully to the true Nature that is our Best Self Being and release the insanity that comes from the box of the mind trap. This is Te. Let us all have the courage to awaken out of the mind trap, to stop condemning the world outside of us, and confront the dragons of conditioning and programming within our own minds. It is a scary thing to do. It takes courage and commitment to take the inner journey into the depths of the being and to face down the beliefs and concepts that have been accepted and believed to be the truth. In reality they have nothing to do with Truth at all. Our beliefs and concepts are a veil covering over the Light of Truth that shines from deep within each of us. When we dig to the depths and find that Light that we truly are, we find True Power and live with Skill in the Way of Nature. True Power never seeks to have power “over.” True Power gives of itself and shares Power with. When we give power to others we share power with them … we empower them rather than dis-empower them. Our true Essential Being-ness is where the real Power lies. Herein is a Mystery: What you give you have, and what you have you are. Life is an outward flowing energy that radiates from the core of everyone and all things. For example, it is only when we are in the act of giving love, radiating love outward that we experience having Love. And in the experience of having Love, we realize that this Love that I am experiencing … this is what I am. This is what truly Empowers us all!
Other Central tenets of Taoist (Daoist) belief Taoism recognized dark and light nature. To cultivate the Tao, one seeks through a process known as the ‘internal alchemy’, in order to create within the results of the “golden elixir”. This alchemy is often referred to as transmutation into gold and is associated with immortality because of its durability and constancy. It is a reference to enhancing the vitality of life-force through the principles of the “three treasures” or jing (immune/hormonal system), chi (intrinsic energy), and shen (spirit).
The three treasures can be roughly interpreted as follows: Jing could be considered the essence of one’s endocrine or hormonal system, and it relates to the functioning of the organs, most notably the kidneys. Jing energy is also called the essence of the primordial energy unique to each individual passed to them at conception. Jing is one’s potential for development – genetic inheritance. Jing is responsible for growth, development and reproduction; Chi is often described as intrinsic energy. Chi – as life-force energy – is that which animates our bodies, which allows movement of all sorts: the movement of breath in and out of our lungs, the movement of blood through the vessels, the functioning of the various organ systems, etc. Sometimes one can feel a warm glow, or a tingling sensation coming out the hands, or the feel the blood flowing through one’s veins; and the third treasure is Shen (Spirit). Shen is associated with the heart organ system. Shen is the spiritual radiance that can be seen shining through a person’s eyes – the emanation of enlightened power; of a heart brimming with wisdom. It involves the three levels of existence: the Heavens, the Human (all life – Nature) realm, and the Earth realm.

TAO (DAO) by Rev. Michael Genzmer Continued There is an alchemy to the three treasures, jing-chi-shen, a co-existence, co-dependence, transitions between them and interfaces that enhances one’s quality of life. For the Taoist, immortality is not impossible. Enhance the Vitality of the life-force is key. Some use breathing techniques to enhance the chi and energy flow and sexual exercises that are intended to lighten the soul so that it will dissolve in the universe, where it will endure. These are true Taoist mystic teachings. The Taoists have traditionally used elixir and herbology for investigating the preparation of an "elixir of longevity", and achieving ultimate wisdom, and making several substances described as possessing unusual properties. However some of these ingredients used to prepare the elixirs include arsenic and mercury, hence more than one Chinese emperor died of “elixir poisoning”. In the highest form of philosophical Taoism, the health of the body has been sought in simple, balanced diet and in exercise. Again the principle is to Enhance the Vitality of the life-force. Taoists and Buddhists, have developed the famous Taijiquan shadow-boxing exercise that groups of people, old and young, can be seen practicing in the early mornings of the parks. Taoist tradition emphasizes martial arts. In Taoism, battle is seen as an element of life, against mortal enemies, and also against immortals within and outside the body. Historically, as well as spiritually, Taoism is one of the keystones of classical martial thinking. Throughout a bloody history Taoist generals have distinguished themselves as experts in military strategy, from which even today the world takes lessons. At the same time they developed the concept that the best war is never even fought, that the general who fights and wins is inferior to the general who never has to fight. In these and a hundred other ways the philosophy of Taoism has had a profound impact on the thinking of real martial artists. The flavor of Taoism is best conveyed by a few stories in which the notions were predominately derived from the ancient folk religion. Such stories are as metaphors on life. They throw no light upon the beauty and sublimity of Taoism in its higher forms, but they do give an idea of the colorful background. A simple philosophical poem might best sum up the essence of Taoism.
Motion and Use The motion of the Way is to return; The use of the Way is to accept; All things come from the Way, And the Way comes from nothing

I know we’re not supposed to love inanimate objects, but for me, hypnosis is not “inanimate.” It is alive, organic, and full of potential. The way I look at it, “What ever you want to stop, start, gain, or release - hypnosis is the key to your success.” There are hundreds of subject specific issues that can be changed through hypnosis. Some issues include: personal improvement (confidence building, anxiety busting, stop saying you’re sorry, etc.), health related (ease migraines, wart removal, teeth grinding, weight, smoking, motivation for exercise, pain management, etc.), better relationships (commitment phobia, forget an ex, sibling competitiveness, etc.), self development (public speaking, self discipline, procrastination, time management, speed reading, etc.), sports physiology (golf swing, endurance, winning mindset, bowling, tennis, etc.) stress (work addictions, boost your energy, brighten up, declutched, feeling overwhelmed, rushing, etc.), just to name a few. In fact, your life changes are limited only by your imagination! An example of STOPPING a behavior; let’s take a client who kept waking up in the middle of the night to urinate and can’t get back to sleep. First, I checked that he didn’t drink a lot of liquids directly before bedtime, and the doctors had said his bladder and kidneys were in perfect order. Next, while he was in the trance state I suggested that when he returned to bed, the second his head hit the pillow, he would instantly fall back to sleep, sleeping soundly until his alarm sounded and then he would wake up, wide awake, feeling fully rested and esthetic about the day. This man was an attorney and flew from San Francisco to Los Angles four times a week (he had a tight schedule and couldn’t afford to be drowsy). How about STARTING a new behavior; comfortably speaking in public? There was a nuclear physics from NASA who had to present his work to a huge audience and was prettified. In this case we did past life regression to find the bases for his fear. Sometimes, you may experience a fear that absolutely stops you dead in your tracks, even if the results of you not doing it are worse than if you do it poorly. Wow, that’s frustrating and is usually based in a past life (or spirit possession). Anyway, this physicist had been killed in a couple of lives for speaking out. He had been hanged in a past life and stoned to death in another, and had died in hand-to-hand battle. In ALL of these cases he was looking out into a crowed of people and then died. Any wonder he felt like he was going to die when he stood in front of a crowd of people?

I have been a student and professional hypnotist for over thirty years. I completed Josie Hadley’s Beginning Hypnosis course in 1986 and then continued on at the Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy and took all the classes they offered. I couldn’t get enough. The idea that a person's lifelong habits, obsessions and phobias could be changed in one or two hypnosis sessions was extraordinary. I joined several hypnosis organizations, past life groups, went to conferences, trained with other hypnotherapist, saw clients almost every night, held a weekly workshop to help other hypnosis students who felt they needed more hands on training. Through all of this training I found myself drawn to the existence of earth-bound entities and my ability to reach them – and release them! It’s easy to pick up negative energies and negative entities that have taken away their own basic joy, happiness and resolve in life. Through this study I developed and continue to teach EBERT (EarthBound Entity Technique) which is done through a unique hypnosis process. This is a technique you can definitely learn!
