Welcome... Milwaukee is referred to often as “America’s best-kept secret.” With its outgoing residents and great events, the city enjoys a growing reputation as a destination. Milwaukee has momentum. We’re capitalizing on our strengths and building for the future. Visitors can see the changes taking place in our downtown. Construction is well underway on the Northwestern Mutual tower. The building will be the second tallest building in Milwaukee, changing the city’s skyline. Construction is ongoing at various other sites as new office buildi s and manufacturing facilities take shape. Residential projects are bringing more people to Milwaukee’s downtown, adding activity. In the next couple of years, construction on two other noteworthy projects is likely to occur. A modern streetcar system will connect major downtown sites and a new arena will be built, providing a home for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette University basketball. Milwaukee is moving in a positive direction.

Tom Barrett, Mayor

Warmer weather means Milwaukee County visitors can take part in some great outdoor activities. If the sun is shining, make your way to Lake Michigan to walk, bike or skate. There’s no better time to celebrate the outdoors than on Earth Day. Head to one of our Gold Medal parks on April 22 or visit the Milwaukee County Zoo and join the animals in celebrating the season. This month the baseball season gets underway and we expect the Brewers to hit it out of Miller Park. Enjoy great food and friends as you cheer on our team. 0Let KEY Milwaukee be your guide to the great opportunities of Milwaukee County as we jump into spring!

Comeback year for Brewers ‘Solid core returning,’ writes Gregg Hoffmann

After spending more than 100 days in first place before alling out of the race in 2014, the Brewers believe they can perform closer to the former than the latter in 2015. A solid core returns for the ball club as they start the season. And General Manager Doug Melvin and his staff also hope t have addressed a hole at first bas with the addition of Adam Lind from Toronto. 08

“I think we played great until that final month, manager Ron Roenicke told reporters before the start of spring training. “We knew we could be competitive and stay in first place i everything went right. We have the same group that can do the same thing.” The Brewers did not make a lot of off season moves, but did not stand pat, with Lind the biggest addition. He should give the club a good bat from the left side and a solid first baseman Gone are Marco Estrada and Yovani Gallardo. That could reduce the Brewers’ pitching depth, but it also could open up opportunities for young pitchers such as Jimmy Nelson and Tyler Thornburg, if he is healthy. Melvin also added some pitching depth. Francisco Rodriguez was signed at the start of spring training and likely will close, as he has in the past for the Brewers. Neal Cotts, a proven lefty, was signed.

Jonathan Broxton, added late last season, could emerge as the setup man and might serve at times as the closer. Pitcher Corey Knebel and infielder Lui Sardinas, acquired in the Gallardo trade with Texas, could contribute to the big league club. Perhaps the biggest

really good,” Braun told reporters before spring training. “Everything is going well. So far, so good.” Coming off an llStar 2014 season will be centerfielder Carlo Gomez and catcher Jonathan Lucroy. The latter injured his hamstring before spring training and sat out several weeks, but is expected to be ready for the regular season. Lucroy could play some at first agains lefthanded pitchers. Khris Davis and Gerardo Parra will share time in left. Scooter Gennett takes over from the departed Rickie Weeks at second base. The NL Central will be a tough division. “It is a great division,” Roenicke said. “ We know that. We know the Cubs are better, and we had trouble with them before they made all those moves. We showed we could do it last year with basically the same team. There’s no reason we can’t do it again.”

z Lucroy Gome factors in the Brewers season will be how Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Jean Segura come back. Braun nursed a hand injury for much of the season and ended up at .266 with 19 homers and 81 RBIs – down from previous seasons. Ramirez made the All-Star team, but slumped during the Brewers’ late season fade. Segura, coming off an ll-Star season in 2013, had a down season. “Knock on wood, I feel great; it feels

WHAT’S NEW At Miller Park?

Already recognized as one of the most fan-friendly facilities in Major League Baseball, Miller Park will unveil some new amenities when the season opens April 6 against the Colorado Rockies. u Food Options: Fans, who already enjoy a wide variety of food options, will have two more with the addition of Holey Moley, a Milwaukee doughnut shop, and Smoke Shack, a Milwaukee barbecue restaurant. u New Treats: There will also be some creative new treats from concessionaire Delaware North. Among the new menu items are “Bratchos,” a combination of Klement’s sausages, kettle chips, cheese, fried sauerkraut, jala-

penos and sour cream served in a Klement’s Racing Sausage bucket. u Bobbleheads: Special game promotions again will give fans ticket discounts and bobbleheads throughout the season. Former Brewers star Rob Deer will be recognized with a bobblehead on April 12 and current Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta will be honored on April 26. On July 21 when the Brewers play the Cleveland Indians, it will be “Major League” night, commemorating the classic 1989 baseball movie which turned the old Milwaukee County Stadium into Cleveland stadium. u Visit Brewers.com for the full schedule, updates on the team, special promotions and to purchase tickets.

Secret Entrance

Entering Bugsy’s is like going back almost 100 years to the “Roaring Twenties,” the era of Prohibition which led to the “speakeasy” secret, underground bars. Though many speakeasies of the ‘20s had fake businesses as cover operations, Bugsy’s operation, “Gouda’s Italian Deli” is legitimate! 218 N Water St, (414) 221-6565

hind the office of International Exports Ltd., 779 N. Front street near the intersection of Water and Wells Sts. International Exports Ltd. a.k.a.

To enter the internationally known Safe House you need to know the secret password, although “Control” has never turned away a spy for not knowing the password.

THE SAFE HOUSE Once cleared, a bookcase slides open, and a passage leads you to a dining area. Spy memorabilia, spy-holes and 2-way mirrors cover the walls. Find the unique phone booth exit for a getaway. Even the food has undercover names, such as the Bond’s Bomb (shown here) Warning --fuse lit!

Make sure to try one of the Safe House’s signature cocktails. The Spytini is sent through 600 feet of tubing and passes through every room before being poured into your glass.
