The Old South Comes Alive During the Annual Holly Springs Pilgrimage!

Holly Springs, MS., welcomes its 76th Annual Pilgrimage Tour of Historic Homes & Churches this month, Apr. 11-13.

Besides the great mansions, quaint cottages & historic churches, the annual Pilgrimage features luncheons, brunches, carriage tours, evening events, an arts & crafts fair, 5K walk/run, live history demonstrations, Civil War re-enactors, cooking demos . . . & more!

Historic homes featured this year include: Walter Place, 1858-59, combining Gothic & classical Greek Revival styles.

The Terrace, 1842, with its broad front porch & inviting sunroom.

Montrose, 1858, home of Pilgrimage sponsors, the Holly Springs Garden Club.

Burton Place, 1848, a totally restored

Exhibits at Elvis Presley’s Graceland in 2014 Walk in the footsteps of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll at Elvis Presley’s Graceland. Here you’ll enjoy a tour of Graceland Mansion, the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum, and Elvis’ custom jets.

Limited time exhibits include Elvis: Live from Las Vegas which explores Elvis’ career from the first time he stepped on stage there to his triumphant return to 1969 and beyond; and Elvis’ Hawaii: Concerts, Movies and More which showcase Elvis’ love of the islands and why it was one of his favorite places to be.

Other exhibits to enjoy: Elvis' Tupelo allows fans to explore the city that Elvis first called home with photos, video, and memorabilia. An Interactive Timeline celebrating 1956, the year Elvis and rock & roll riveted the world.

The tour also features Christ Episcopal Church, built in 1858; the First Presbyterian Church, whose construction, begun in 1860, was interrupted by the Civil War & subsequent Union occupation; the First United Methodist Church, 1849, known for its twin circular staircases.

The Church of the Yellow Fever Martyrs Museum, built in 1841. Father Oberti & the Catholic sisters of the church, devoted themselves to caring for the sick during the yellow fever epidemic until they themselves died of the disease.

Each of the 24 trolley stations throughout downtown, the riverfront and Madison Ave., are equipped for those with disabilities and unable to use steps.
