Our
teaching
There is something different about our University that motivates hearts and minds. This is because we know that teaching is not simply endowing you with information. We believe that teaching means offering you the space, knowledge and different ways of discovering yourself, maturing and growing, while you achieve the highest professional level possible in your chosen career. For this reason our educational model is comprehensive, meaning that "our way of teaching" looks into all the dimensions of the person: physical, intellectual and spiritual, and includes the following elements where our leafy boughs stretch out and our roots are firmly set: • Our teachers We have the best-known teachers and practitioners and, to encourage intellectual creation, we have the researchers needed to update our academic life. Many of them have advanced degrees and are trained in a Second Specialization in Catholic University Teaching. • Academic demands When we say demands, we do not mean keeping you awake day after day or exhausting you to the point that you abandon ship. It is about motivating you, so that you will be the one who drives your skills and potential to the maximum, thus achieving your career knowledge and learning the tools that will allow you to best apply it. • Personal development Companies do not look for professionals with advanced knowledge, period. They seek professionals who, armed with a correct scale of values, develop critical thinking, are responsible and reliable and able to make ethical decisions. At UCSP we integrate this personal development as an essential part of your training. • Professional development At UCSP we provide professional training of the highest academic standards, with curricula that are constantly updated and specialized to express your talent to the fullest.

Getting to know
Arequipa
Arequipa, known as the White City (Ciudad Blanca), is an important industrial and commercial center of Peru. It was founded on August 15, 1540, under the name of «Villa Hermosa de Nuestra Señora de la Asunta» and on September 22, 1541, King Carlos V, by Royal Decree, ordered it to be called the City of Arequipa. Its historic center is spread over an area of 332 hectares and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It highlights the vice-regal (colonial) and republican religious architecture, a product of the mixing of European and native influences and its own characteristic style called the “Escuela Arequipeña”. It is located at an altitude 2,328 meters and the central part of the city is crossed from north to south-west by the River Chili which has carved what is called the Arequipa or Chili valley. From the city you can observe a series of volcanic cones that form snow-capped mountains with names such as Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu. The climate of the city is predominantly dry in winter, autumn and spring due to atmospheric humidity. It is also semiarid because of the effective precipitation and tempered by the thermal condition. It has 300 days of sunshine a year and a record number of 4,000 hours of sun per year that justify its nickname "City of the eternal blue sky”. Throughout the year temperatures do not rise above 25°C and rarely drop below 10°C. Arequipa is served by the Alfredo Rodríguez Ballón International Airport, located about 12 miles northwest of downtown. The airport offers daily air connections with the cities of Lima, Cusco, Tacna and Juliaca and international destinations such as Chile and Argentina.
Arequipa Plaza de Armas of Arequipa Surrounded by the Cathedral and arched doorways, the Plaza de Armas has a beautiful bronze fountain of three sections crowned with the figure of a soldier from the sixteenth century.
The Arequipa Cathedral Regarded as one of the first seventeenth century religious monuments in the city, it was built using ashlar (volcanic stone) with brick vaults.
The Santa Catalina Monastery Built to house the daughters of the most distinguished families of the city with a religious vocation, the monastery was inaugurated on October 2, 1580, under the patronage of St. Catherine of Siena, as a center of absolutely cloistered existence and it remained so until August 15, 1970.
Arequipa sorroundings Colca Canyon A region known in colonial times as the Collahuas district, it is home to 14 well-designed villages with magnificent works of architecture, such as the churches, most of which are still standing. Here you will find the famous Colca Canyon which is 3,207 meters deep, considered to be one of the deepest in the world, with special attractions such as vicu帽a, the condor sanctuary, hot springs and terraces, among others.
Cotahuasi Canyon Located in the province of La Uni贸n, it has a depth of 3,370 meters and was declared a National Tourist Reserve Area in 1988 in recognition of its natural, cultural and archaeological attractions. There are also other canyons such as Inchukilka, Palmadera and Sipia and cataracts which include those of Allankay, Huaccay and Sipia with 150-meter falls and two rainbows, from where you can see the flight of the condors.
