Thursday, November 21, 2013 • 7:00 p.m. • Newark, Del. • Delaware Mini-Stadium • For the first time in over 40 years, the Blue Hens are hosting a NCAA match at Delaware Mini-Stadium. • In most recent action, Delaware was eliminated from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament on penalty kicks (7-6) by eventual champion, Drexel. The Hens received an at-large bid to the 48-team NCAA bracket thanks to their 14 overall wins this season. • Junior forward Roberto Giménez and senior midfielder Vincent Mediate each earned 2013 CAA All-Tournament Team honors. • On Thursday, Nov. 13 at the CAA banquet, eight Blue Hens took home a program-high 10 post-season honors; - Guillermo Deglado: CAA Rookie of the Year; All-CAA First Team; All-CAA Rookie Team - Borja Barbero: All-CAA First Team - Roberto Giménez: All-CAA Second Team - Vincent Mediate: All-CAA Second Team - Ignacio Martín: All-CAA Third Team - Jaime Martinez: All-CAA Rookie Team - Ben Sampson: All-CAA Rookie Team - Luke Oostdyk: All-CAA Academic team • This season, Delaware has registered the best turn around in program history with the Hens more than tripling their wins in 2013 after registering 4-10-4 overall record in 2012. • Delaware currently ranks second in the nation in scoring offense (2.39 goals per game) and points per game (6.74) while the Blue Hens sit in a four-way tie for first in total goals (44). • The 2013 Hens have essentially rewriten the Delaware men’s soccer record books for a single season. The year’s squad has set a new record for wins (14), goals and corners (140). Delaware is one assist away from breaking the single-season record for assists (41). The Blue Hens have also set the best over record in the program’s 87-year history. • Vincent Mediate now stands at the top of the Delaware record book for career games played with 75. Tonight’s match will mark Mediate’s 76th game in a Blue Hen uniform. • Delgado currently leads Delaware in goals (14), points (33) and game-winning goals (6). Giménez and Martinez are tied for second in points (16) and goals (5) but rank first in assists with six.
