Last Meeting On Oct. 19, Delaware dropped its first home match of the 2013 season to Drexel, 2-1. Freshman Guillermo Delgado found the back of the net in the 69th minute of the match to bring the Blue Hens within one goal of Drexel. Senior defender Price Nartey tallied the assist of Delgado’s score but the single goal was not enough for the Blue Hens. Drexel took an early lead over the Blue Hens when Michele Pataia scored his first goal of the season at 18:18 of the first half. Skylar Olson registered the only assist on the Dragons first goal. The Dragons second goal came with 22:33 remaining in the match. Nathan Page tallied his fourth goal of the season for Drexel to give the Dragons a two-goal advantage. Delgado’s tally came less than three minutes later but Delaware could not overcome the one goal deficit to have its comeback effort stifled by the Dragons in the 2-1 loss.

Last Time Out Junior tri-captain Roberto Giménez of the University of Delaware men’s soccer team led the Blue Hens to a 1-0 double overtime victory over defending Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champion Northeastern Saturday night at Delaware Mini-Stadium as he tallied on a penalty kick in the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament. After both teams played over 105 minutes throughout four frames of scoreless soccer, Delaware finally received the break its was looking for the entire match. Giménez had a great breakaway run for Delaware in the 106th minute and was fouled hard in the box by a Husky defender, giving Giménez the opportunity to win the match for Delaware on a penalty kick. Giménez took full advantage of the opportunity, ripping the penalty kick into the right side of the net past NU goalkeeper Dylan Faber to set off a wild Delaware celebration. Hens Return to CAA Championship For the third time in the past four seasons, Delaware men’s soccer team has returned to the CAA Championship. CAA MEN’S SOCCER PAST CHAMPIONS

NOTE: The first conference championship ‑ 1983 ‑ was determined by a playoff of the two teams with the best records from conference play. Starting in 1984 the championship was determined by single round‑robin, regular‑season competition. The 1990 season marked the inaugural post‑season tournament to determine the recipient of the conference’s automatic bid.
