BALDWIN HALL NAMING OPPORTUNITIES

HISTORY Constructed in 1938, Baldwin Hall served as a Navy pre-flight school during World War II and is now home to several UGA academic programs. The building currently houses two departments in the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA)-Political Science and Public Administration and Policy-as well as two departments in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. It is also home to the jointly administered SPIA/Franklin Criminal Justice Studies Program. In recognition of the strength of Political Science and Public Administration degrees and the importance of these subject areas, the University established the School of Public and International Affairs in 2001. Now home to three departments (International Affairs, Political Science, and Public Administration and Policy), three centers (the Center for International Trade and Security, the Survey Research Center, and the Center for the Study of Global Issues), and more than 1,850 students, SPIA continues to grow, and its majors are among the most popular on campus. Ranked fourth in the nation among public affairs schools, SPIA is an academic success story. The Baldwin Hall annex and renovations allow SPIA to provide an enhanced learning environment for even more students. The roughly $8 million project, with funding provided by the Georgia General Assembly, includes construction of
