If you are already familiar with the basics of your DSLR camera (film or digital) and feel comfortable shooting with the manual setting, this hands-on photography workshop will help you to “see” more creatively. You will learn basic photography composition concepts, including the use of color, leading the eye, creating neutral space, “rule of thirds,” and “golden mean” and will give students time to head out onto the beautiful grounds of the college to practice skills, explore, and experiment with creating images.
This hands-on photography workshop takes the basic skills learned in level 1 to the next level! Pilates for Body Fitness and Wellness STOTT PILATES incorporates modern exercise principles, and applies proven and accepted practices in biomechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. These exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. The technique are appropriate for many different body types and abilities, making it applicable to sport-specific training and everyday life. Lunchtime Yoga Class Practice yoga during lunch to relax, meditate and renew. Yoga is the ancient practice of uniting the mind, body and spirit through gentle movement. You will learn to develop inner strength and flexibility through traditional isometric poses and stretching. Emphasis is on posture and core development. Please bring your own personal yoga mat, and water bottle, located in the Laulima 105 Wellness Facility.
GOLF I Introduction to Golf
Get out and play golf! This class is designed for golf enthusiasts with modest experience. This class meets 4 Saturday mornings at the Waiehu Golf Course range and introduces participants to the fundamentals of golf including: stance, grip, posture, and swing mechanics on the golf range and putting green. You will gain insight into the history, etiquette, and rules of this growing year-round sport. Basic instruction will focus on the proper golf swing, with chipping and putting tips. Participants must wear covered shoes and comfortable active clothing. Practice clubs and range balls will be provided. However, you are encouraged to bring your own set of clubs and water.
