MOTORCYCLE BASIC RIDER COURSE

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic RiderCourse Hawaii edition is approved for use by the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) for Motorcycle Rider Education. Upon successful completion of the course, qualified students will be issued a licensing waiver, which is submitted to the DMV to get your State of Hawaii Motorcycle Driver License. Students must already have a Permit issued by the DMV prior to coming to Motorcycle Rider Course. The course consists of classroom instruction for two evenings and two half days of range instruction and testing at UHMC campus motorcycle range. A motorcycle and helmit will be provided for you during the Range instruction. Please note: Students must wear range attire including long pants, closed-toed shoes that cover the ankle, long sleeved shirt, and gloves. A helmet will be provided for you at class, as well as a motorcycle. Your own personal helmet can be also be used if it is 3/4 or full size and has the DOT stamp. You must be able to safely operate a 2 wheel single track vehicle (i.e. bicycle). No credit or refund will be issued for failure to meet minimum objectives. You must bring your HI Motorcycle Permit with you to class. CAREER TRAINING Electrical Technology Program Journey Worker Electrician (EJ) The Journeyworker Electrician program provides participants with the academic coursework required by Hawaii Revised Statute HRS 448E for journey worker electrical apprentices. The program is spread out over one year and scheduled conveniently in the evenings for working participants. Participants gain foundational skills in electrical safety, as well as applied math, AC/DC theory, motors and motor control, NEC, and transformers. Security Guard Training Prior to employment as a guard, it is a state mandate to meet certain training requirements. These training requirements include successful completion of an initial eight hour classroom instruction preceding the first day of employment and four hours of classroom training annually. In accordance with HRS Chapter 463-7 (ACT 208), persons who act in a guard capacity (guards, agents, operatives, and assistants) and are employed by private businesses, guard agencies, or government agencies, must register with the Board of Private Detectives and Guards. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this 8-hour comprehensive training program to meet the state security guard training requirements.
