The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Public Health GIS (PHGIS) program presents a series of

Midwest Comprehensive Visualization Dashboards (MCVD) Focused on public and environmental health issues in the Midwest region, MCVD's primary objective is to create visualizations that lead to operational insights to enhance datadriven decisions. The COVID-19 MCVD aims to assist professionals and the public to comprehend the COVID-related issues that impact their communities. The COVID MCVD is an ArcGIS Online map series. The series contains multiple interactive data dashboards that display and explore COVID-19 household and long-term care facility (LTCF) deaths in the "North Central Region" of the United States from the beginning of the pandemic through November 29, 2020. The PHGIS program will update the dashboard information based on data made available from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)[WCM1]. Unique data applications are represented in corresponding tabs, defined below and found on top of the dashboard from left to right. Cumulative death totals and rates and mortality data separated non-cumulatively by waves 1 and 2 are some of the visualizations available. The "Filters" panes on the left side of each page allow you to filter the data interactively. Applications that contain maps can be further explored for specific county data by clicking on the outlined counties represented on the map. Tab descriptions, which includes household and long-term care facility death rates, are as follows:

CUMULATIVE DEATH RATE DATA Maps display side-by-side cumulative data. Use the dropdown in the left pane to select a date and/or state. Data are cumulative. Try panning, zooming, and selecting counties of interest on the map. WAVE SEPARATED DEATH WAVE DATA Maps display side-by-side non-cumulative data on waves (1 or 2) and states. WAVE SEPARATED DEATH WAVE DATA vs. RUCC CODES Maps display non-cumulative data on a wave (1 or 2) and states county codes. Maps are stacked, therefore select between household and care facility maps at the bottom. WAVE SEPARATED DEATH RATES vs. POPULATION DENSITY Maps display non-cumulative data rates vs. county population density. Select wave (1 or 2) and a state in the left pane. WEEKLY TOTAL HOUSEHOLD & CARE FACILITY DEATHS Charts display weekly deaths by state. Focus on a specific state by selecting them underneath the charts. WEEKLY PROPORTIONAL HOUSEHOLD & CARE FACILITY DEATHS Charts display proportional deaths by state. Select multiple states in the left pane to compare. OVERALL POPULATION DAILY REPORTED DEATHS & CASES Charts display daily reported total deaths and cases. Filter by state in the left pane.
