Asian Studies Holds Spring 2023 Senior Thesis Presentations
On November 8, 2023, the Asian Studies major celebrated the achievements of their senior thesis candidates of spring 2023. The students presented their original research projects to a select audience of faculty and senior students in a conference format, followed by questions and comments. The presentations covered topics ranging from illegal paper recycling in the early Joseon period (Koh Minyu), labor regulation and social isolation in contemporary Korea (Ida Hovik), and conceptions of motherhood and femininity in housewife vlogs (Lee Saehyun).
The papers were acclaimed for the depth of the research, which kept the audience enthralled, and several audience members commented that they did not want the Q&A time to end. The organizers hope that the event inspires the next crop of students to sign up for the program while also giving current Asian Studies students the chance to seek advice and support from their peers on the thesis writing process.
