Engineering students are using complex robotics to develop exoskeletal devices to build better therapies and help stroke survivors regain mobility.

Vandal innovation is headed to the International Space Station! A team of U of I students is working with NASA to develop a bacteria-resistant coating that can be used to prevent the spread of germs among astronauts in space.

To be involved in a project like this – to help create a sustainable material that could be used to produce affordable housing – is an amazing learning opportunity.

A project to launch a robotic rotorcraft lander to Saturn’s moon Titan, envisioned by a University of Idaho researcher, has been selected by NASA for launch. Named for its insect shape, DRAGONFLY is set to launch in 2025 and arrive at Titan in December 2034.

Two teams of apparel, textiles and design students created original swimwear designs for Nike Swim. Their project culminated with a trip to Portland, Oregon, to present final prototypes to Nike Swim employees including the president of the company.

In the College of Art and Architecture’s DESIGNBUILD PROGRAM, you’ll be involved in a construction project from conception to construction. Previous projects include designing and building the Moose Creek Warming Hut north of Sandpoint and the Hat Ranch Winery in Caldwell.

In the College of Business and Economics’ Barker Trading Program, you’ll learn about risk and money management by trading as part of an investment team.

Victor Zhong ‘23, a double major in biochemistry and molecular biology and biotechnology, won a prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship for his research isolating the virus-like element related to pathogens that cause Chagas disease and sleeping sickness.

Spend your first semester outdoors. In NR 101: EXPLORING NATURAL RESOURCES, you’ll participate in field trips nearly every week as you explore local landscapes, work in interdisciplinary teams and gain experience in each of the natural resource disciplines offered at the University of Idaho.

Our Taylor Wilderness Research Station is located in the middle of the largest wilderness area in the lower 48 states. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in a one-of-a-kind SEMESTER IN THE WILD program in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area.
