University Housing Investing in Improvements Wallace Renovation Plans Continue for Summer 2015 University Housing had a successful 2015-16 academic year with many new programs, continued initiatives, and an overall healthy net income performance. It is Housing's number one priority to reinvest in strategic capital plans to improve the student experience. The summer progress of these capital plans include: Gooding 1st floor renovation nearing completion to be available for new and returning students this fall. Gooding 2nd floor beginning the initial renovation phases, to continue in full mode through the summer. Installing carpet in the remaining seven floors of Wallace to add incremental improvements prior to full floor renovations.
Wireless Upgrade Investments in Theophilus Tower In April 2015, the average number of connected wireless devices in the Tower was 1129, up 56% year to date. Due to the increasing number of devices a student brings to campus, University Housing is investing in wireless upgrades. Auxiliary Business Technologies and ITS have been working in conjunction to test, install, and enhance wireless coverage. The installation will begin this summer in Theophilus Tower and 2 floors in Wallace Residence Center scheduled to be available for Fall 2015. This investment in technology will improve satisfaction and overall student success.
University Housing is extremely excited to see the response of the Wallace renovations as more students are choosing these options leading to an increase in both recruitment and retention efforts.
