Webinars At CLIA we know that keeping up to date with the products and destinations offered by cruise lines is essential for cruise experts. So we operate a number of webinars throughout the year where we invite cruise lines, ports, destinations and other suppliers to relay their product updates to you. New for 2014 is our Webinar Library where you can book yourself on a forthcoming webinar and you can also browse our previous webinars that are all downloadable for you to watch later. This means that you can watch the webinars that you want to watch at a time convenient to you! For those interested in marketing webinars or in destinations, then please be advised that there are a number of additional webinars around these subjects too!
FAQs We know that converting new to cruise customers from a land-based holiday is a great opportunity to grow our cruise sales – we also know that occasionally they may have questions on areas such as smoking at sea, onboard health and hygiene, cruise ship safety, travelling with families and so on. We have produced a whole section on our website to cover just this sort of eventuality – updated regularly as new procedures and legislation is brought into being. This includes official industry videos, in-depth guides, and a range of short-answer questions.
Latest News Keeping up to date with changes and announcements in the industry are central to being a cruise expert – our latest news section is updated throughout the day with breaking cruise news – and check out our archive for news you may have missed. CLIA UK & Ireland offers the most comprehensive cruise news listing in the UK & Ireland of all 45 of the leading cruise lines active in the UK. And if you are looking for a summary of what the trade press have been saying this week about our industry - then you will find a link to this weekly blog on the site.

Marketing Your Business We want customers to find their local CLIA member – and so have invested in our own member search engine so that potential cruisers can come and find you whether by postcode or by searching for their town or county! We are also delighted to be running CLIA Cruise Week between September 27 and October 5 where we will be publicising CLIA and the benefits of cruise holidays across the spectrum of media from local newspapers to national TV, and from radio stations to social media – we are going to create a buzz... so all you need to do is hold your own promotion or event and let’s work together to get more people to cruise. CLIA also provides you with access to our logo for your marketing material, window stickers, membership certificates and accreditation collateral. Want to convince customers that you know and understand cruise? Let your membership speak for itself.
Learning Academy Only CLIA operates the UK & Ireland official cruise accreditation programme – recognised by City and Guilds for its excellence in delivery. The Learning Academy is where you can record any ship visits or cruises and any learning completed with cruise lines, you can create your own online diary – a central reminder for you of how far your learning journey has taken you. Our Academy also holds all of our learning modules and resources – accessible whether you wish to work towards accredited status or you simply want to improve your knowledge. Sections include: Our Resources Centre is home to the latest statistics, reports and key cruise information – think of it as your online study library Oceans of Opportunity is our main training programme – taking learners from novice to expert utilising modules that take up to 15 minutes each to complete. Subjects covered include the history of cruising, sales techniques, the cruise sectors, reading a cruise brochure and so on. Completion of this programme gives learners accredited status.
CLIA has compiled a whole set of Destination Training modules – giving you background information on each cruising area, key attractions, the customer experience in the ports themselves, along with other important information. Destinations include the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Alaska, South America, Far East, Nile and so on. The Member Training area is where you will find short modules from our cruise line members and CLIA travel partners. These are not intended to be full in-depth training courses, but rather to give you a summary of the key points from their products. An additional section is our Specialist Training area where we have added courses that can help build your knowledge and expertise such as emerging destinations, essential marketing, river cruises and social media. Finally, and new for 2014 is CLIA Discovers – bringing you learning content unlike anything you may have experienced before. This special series of training programmes is led by cruise destination specialist Peter Kollar (from CLIA Australasia) and takes you on a journey that will ultimately circumnavigate the globe and cover 350 of the world’s most important cruise ports. From distance from the port to the city (and airport) to the destination experience for your customer and important excursions and places to see – you will never study a cruise destination in the same way again!
