The Selling Cruise Conference will take place on Thursday 21, Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May in Southampton. The event is designed for customer facing travel professionals and will feature a trade fair, conference sessions on board each of the ships and networking opportunities. CLIA UK & Ireland director Andy Harmer says: “The Conference will showcase three of the world’s newest, most innovative cruise ships all of which will be sailing out of the UK next year. MSC Cruises Has Begun The Roll-out Of Its New Travel Agent Booking Platform, MSC Book

Developed and built in-house over the last 18 months, the new system is being soft launched over the coming month. Five cruise specialist retailers – Barrhead Travel, Cruise.co.uk, Cruise 1st, Iglu and Cruise Nation – will be the first to gain access, with more agencies going live each week during September. The new system has been designed to make it easier for agents to book MSC Cruises’ itineraries and associated products – and is another example of the company’s drive to work more closely with its agent partners, following the launch of its ‘Serving You’ initiative in July. A cleaner graphics-led interface leads users through a simpler booking path, allowing them to book flights, choose cabin type, onboard Experience level (Bella, Fantastica, Aurea and MSC Yacht Club) and dining options, as well as secure extras such as excursions and spa treatments. MSC Book additionally acts as a complete resource centre for the trade, containing comprehensive information about MSC Cruises’ ships, itineraries, ports of call, excursions and latest promotions. Agents can compare potential cruise options for customers and use it to email quotes and booking confirmations. The system also allows users to view potential commission earned on each package. MSC Cruises Executive Director UK and Ireland Giles Hawke, said: “We promised the new booking system when we launched our ‘Serving You’ programme and we have delivered it as planned. “Agents very often say that booking cruises is a time-consuming and complicated process, so we have invested in making it as easy as possible. MSC Book should be a real boon to agents familiar to MSC Cruises as well as a great tool for attracting new retailers.” Versions of MSC Book will be introduced simultaneously in France, Italy and Germany and will eventually replace MSC Cruises’ existing trade booking portal MSC Online, which will be switched off in the UK in November.

Into 2015 With An Unrivalled River Cruise Fleet

AmaWaterways moves into 2015 with the accolade of having the best fleet on Europe’s rivers, according to the Berlitz: River Cruising in Europe travel guide. The company was the only cruise line to receive a four star-plus rating in the 2014 guide, taking all 11 of the guide’s top spots, with the AmaPrima rated as Europe’s top river cruise ship, scoring the highest compared with 280 other vessels. AmaWaterways’ innovations for 2015 includes sailings on the Ayeyarwady in Myanmar on board the new AmaPura which launches in November 2014. Holland America Line has revealed the name of its new 99,500-ton cruise ship slated for delivery in February 2016 will be ms Koningsdam. Promoting Fred. this Cruise Week In support of the trades cruise week promotions, Fred. Olsen has hand-picked six special summer sailings, each featuring either a complimentary upgrade OR no single supplements on selected grades, available up until 28th October. Fred. Olsen is also giving agents the chance to ‘Win a world cruise with Fred. Olsen’. The successful travel agent will be selected at random from the pre-registered agents and will be eligible to choose from any ex-UK sailing within our new Worldwide 2015/16 brochure, including our exceptional 119-night Far East Explorer cruise! Every booking made under the registered agents ABTA number between 27th September and 5th October will be entered into the prize draw. The prize will be a cruise only holiday for two people and can be given to a friend or family member! PLUS, to help raise awareness for National Cruise week, Fred. Olsen has joined in on the CLIA #LoveCruise social media campaign in the build up to cruise week and encouraging others to also join in and share their favourite destination! Bringing the world closer In 2015/16, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ ships will be visiting no fewer than 245 destinations in 81 countries around the globe, including 42 countries across the two 2016 ‘Grand Voyages’ alone. The cruise line are offering more visits to exotic and remote islands, more stunning scenic cruising, more time in destinations, new maiden calls and two ‘Voyages of a Lifetime’ in 2016.
