Interpsill 2022 - February 22
Welcome and Introduction
Interspill 2022 is the next event in the triennial series of international oil spill clean-up events and will be held in Amsterdam from 21 - 23 June 2022.
With less than 6 months to it opening it is exciting to see the event start to take shape.
We are mindful that this will be one of the first face to face events for the oil spill industry as we recover from the pandemic. Consequently we are doing all we can to ensure it is COVID safe and welcoming to exhibitors, conference delegates and visitors alike.
We are all looking forward to returning to RAI in Amsterdam where we held a very successful event in 2015. We are assured by the professionalism of the venue and organisers who have safely been holding events and conferences during 2021. They have issued their own set of COVID Protocols that we will all have to follow.
Nine months ago the Committee began discussing ideas and innovation for the 2022 event. This issue of the Interspill newsletter announces the structure of what should be a dynamic event with excellent opening keynote speakers, a strong conference programme, special plenary session and an exciting industry representation as well as training and of course networking. This event is face to face; something we have all missed over the last 2 years! We also have introduced industry sector themed days where the content for the day will be oriented toward issues pertinent to a specific industry sector, eg. ports and harbours; shipping and salvage and clean seas.
The Interspill Conference has long been the jewel in the crown, and exhibitors recognise this with their support for the Exhibition. Recognising that
Covid has changed our world, putting pressure on budgets, and also travel, the need to make the Conference more accessible to all those attending Interspill was obvious to both the Committee and Organiser.
New for 2022, the Conference will be open to all attending, with all visitors paying a flat daily fee to register. Traditional Conference delegates will see the cost of attending for 3 days halved, and day visitors will not only have access to the Exhibition, but can attend Conference sessions.
The event organiser, iCONEX, and the INTERSPILL Committee together decided to change the fee structure for attending Interspill 2022. In the past, attending the Exhibition was free, and a substantial fee was charged for attending the Conference. Now all attending will have access to the Conference and the Exhibition, with payment of a Daily Delegate fee of €100 on registration.
This NEW Daily Delegate Fee for Interspill in 2022 opens up the range of Interspill events to everyone who registers, so if you can only come for one day – perhaps to attend talks on shipping and salvage, then you only pay for one day. If you are there for the whole event then pay for three days. We believe this new fee offers both accessibility and better value to all potential visitors in 2022!
As I look across the industry what impresses me is that despite COVID, we have all managed to do business, collaborate, innovate and maintained our primary role – to help our customers prevent pollution incidents, prepare for them, respond to them and efficiently restore the environment if they have occured. Interspill 2022 will celebrate that and much more!
Interspill is looking forward to being in Amsterdam again. A great seafaring city, with history around every corner but also with character developed over centuries. It is centrally placed with excellent transport links to its own international airport at Schipol and easy connections with other European cities by train or road.
Join us at Interspill 2022, in June, I look forward to welcoming you there!
