Uken 2016 UKEN is western Norway’s second largest culture festival and is held every other year. Over 1000 volunteer as fUKENtionaries to create 17 days of parties and fun! The UKEline-up will be packed with everything from wild concerts and shows, to world record attempts, the kid’s day, elderly’s day and much more. Central to UKEN is the UKErevue. Every UKEN we set the stage for our own show, which has won the national prize several times over the years. UKEN has a tradition for revues that has roots stretching back to 1947, with many famous artists starting their career here, such as Jo Nesbø and Raske Menn. In addition to the revue there are many unforget-

table memories created here, with concerts in the UKEtent and in the Aula. Great artists have visited UKEN over the years, such as Backstreet Boys, Kygo, Veronica Maggio, 50 Cent, The White Stripes, Klovner i Kamp and DJ Tiesto. The magical atmosphere created in the UKEtent and the Aula when some of the world’s biggest artists enter the stage is absolutely priceless for both the guests and the fUKENtionaries. The revue and the concerts are massive experiences, but the best thing about UKEN is the broad specter of the programme and the tasks of the fUKENtinaries. We have something to everyone’s liking and three weeks of fantastic experiences makes UKEN a cultural experience you don’t want to miss!

HILSEN FRA UKESJEFEN Dear fellow student! This is the final opportunity to join the UKEfamily – don’t let the chance to join this fantastic adventure slip away! There are only a few weeks left until it kicks off with party and fun from dusk till dawn – UKEN 16 is coming up! We are now working hard to create the UKEline-up for the full three weeks. The line-up will consist of everything from wild concerts to an amazing cabaret, world record attempts and child- and elderly days. We already booked artists like Axwell^Îngrosso and Karpe Diem to make a hell of a party in the OBOS-tent on Koengen. In addition, DDE will rock the stage in the Aula at NHH. Now we want to bring even more people onto our team to make a festival for the history books! In just a few weeks you’ll notice the school changing colours from grey to green, and I can with certainty say that you don’t want to
be on the sidelines when that happens. UKEN is by far the largest sub-section in the student union, and this final round of hiring will make us grow to almost 1200 fUKENtionaries. The IT-group makes sure all fUKENtionaries smile because all systems work the way they should. Afraid your IT-skills aren’t good enough? Don’t worry, no prior experience is required!
Would you like to be a part of the most awesome team in UKEN 16? Do you love taking pictures and capturing beautiful memories? Foto UKEN provides you with the opportunity to do just that!

Development Do you want to help develop and maintain the systems that will take UKEN 16 to new heights? As a member of the development team you’ll get broader skills in application development and programming with VB.NET and PHP. This is knowledge that can be useful to bring on in your studies and career. If you’re bubbling over with creativity, can-do attitude and a glowing commitment, this is definitely the position for you! System Administrator Do your fingers itch when you see a jammed printer? Do you like helping others out? Then this is the position for you! The systems group has the main responsibility for UKEN’s IT-gear and help other groups out if they’re having problems. You’ll get insight into how email, printers, networks, cashiers, cashless (and perhaps even servers) work within the student union. You won’t need any previous experience, dedication and a knack for practical work will go a long way!

As a photographer for our team, you will be responsible for signing up for photography and photoediting shifts for all the UKEN events. You will be using the best equipment for photography including Canon 5D Mark IIIs, and the best editing software including Camera Raw, Lightroom and Photoshop. You will also get free access to the events you will be assigned to! Prior experience is not mandatory but useful nevertheless. However, if you are extremely motivated to join our team and have little to no experience, worry not! Our team of experienced photographers and editors will provide all the necessary training!
In UKEN video you get the opportunity to create some of the truly unique aspects of UKEN. This year we are revolutionizing the way UKEN is documented by producing a documentary of how UKEN is created and carried out. UKEN Video will also produce promo films for artists and other productions to be used on different events. We are primarily looking for applicants with previous experience with video editing or filming, but if you have a great personal interest in video, we urge you to apply anyway. UKEN Video has its own office and equipment borrowed from K7 Minutter, which makes for a fantastic group environment and freedom to unfold. Give yourself a challenge and apply UKEN Video!

Do you want to contribute to making the UKEN machinery run smoothly? There’s nothing quite like delivering a precise and seamless transport to anyone from happy fUKENtionaries to world renowned artists. Transport is the group where you can contribute to success on all arenas in UKEN 16!
As a fUKENtionary in the event technical group your main job will be to work as a stage hand on the different concerts and shows during UKEN 16. That includes setting up the sound and lights gear and facilitating the artist’s technical requirements, so that the concerts are the best they can be! As a fUKENtionary you will thereby cooperate with the artists and their crew, and for certain shows have access to all the sound tests. There are no prerequisites, as proper training will be given to you beforehand. Our only demand is that you’re a positive person with a can-do attitude. Live video needs 10 dedicated fUKENtionaries to produce UKEN’s cabaret and concerts. We will cooperate closely with both UKEN Video and the event technical group, to film, distribute and document everything. There are no previous experience required, only a good mood, a wish to learn and a can-do attitude.

UKEtent is the group with the responsibility for the by far largest and most important arena of UKEN 16. And now you have the opportunity to join us! We will raise the largest and coolest tent Bergen has ever seen and facilitate the artists in making our dreams come true underneath the canvas.

Your main responsibilities will be rigging the tent up and down, so you can enjoy UKEN 16 in between. Together we will create unforgettable memories from the UKEtent – for ourselves and everyone who visits our tent!
Every restaurants greatest asset is its waiters. No prior experience is required, only motivation and determination! For the waiters, the party continues in the basement after the shift ends. Together we will transform the cafeteria and serve fantastic food and drinks on galas and business events. We’re already quite a large gang, and we’re looking forward to greeting 45 new waiters with open arms. As one of the largest groups we are guaranteed to have a lot of fun on the road to UKEN 16. The tent is UKEN’s largest concert arena, and will accommodate big international artists and more than 4000 happy guests. Our task is curbing hunger and quenching thirst, while facilitating unforgettable concert experiences. Together with the Tent group we will shape the coolest concert tent and make sure the guests can enjoy a good meal in nice surroundings while spending a minimal amount of time queuing. UKEN’s largest and most cheerful group is seeking new fUKENtinaries. We will have a central role in making sure the events run according to plan. Our responsibility is keeping the security and making sure that all visitors get the best UKEN experience possible. In hosts you will work in teams and it’s important to be able to cooperate well within your team, and at the same time be able to make independent decisions when needed. Hosts will have a great area of responsibilities on the different events which includes much interaction with the guests, so it will be important to be service minded and agreeable.
There are still two positions left in the Sales section’s best group – Campus Lounge! UKEN 16 will create a proper lounge bar experience, the likes of which has never been seen at NHH. We’ll also educate TOP NOTCH cocktail bartenders. Do you find the thought of mixing lovely drinks, practicing newly discovered drinks at a pre-party or putting a smile on thousands of guests tempting? Then Campus Lounge is the thing for you!
Didn’t you get to apply for UKEN the first time around, but really want to participate? You still have the opportunity! Apply for CabaretLighting and join the best section of all of UKEN. In CabaretLighting we have the best seat in the Aula, the responsibility for the stage lights for the UKENcabaret, a cabaret that will be the all-time best! But for that to happen, we need great fUKENtionaries. This is a brilliant way to learn more about stage lighting, while at the same time be a part of amazing Cabaret Section. This is a fantastic way to experience UKEN!

As a tracking-spot your job will be to control the big spot lights during the cabaret, and give the actors the attention they deserve. You will be in on the entire process, from planning to execution, and have the option to learn a lot about stage lights while you’re at it.
