UKEN is western Norway’s second largest culture festi-val and is held every other year. Over a thousand stu-dents volunteer as fUKENtionaries to create 17 days of concerts, events and lots of fun! The UKEline-up will be packed with everything from wild concerts and shows, to world record attempts, the kid’s day, elderly’s day and much more. Central to UKEN is the UKErevue. Every UKEN we set the stage for our own show, which has won the natio-nal prize several times. UKEN has a tradition for revues that has roots stretching back to 1947, with many famous artists starting their career here, such as Jo Nesbø and Raske Menn. In addition to the revue there are many unforgettable memories created here, with concerts in the UKEtent 2 in the Aula. Great artists have visited UKEN over and
the years, such as Backstreet Boys, Kygo, Axwell & Ingrosso, 50 Cent, Veronica Maggio, The White Stripes and DJ Tiesto. The magical atmosphere created in the UKEtent and the Aula when some of the world’s biggest artists enter the stage is absolutely priceless for both the guests and the fUKENtionaries. Even though it is a lot of focus on the revue and the big concerts, what makes UKEN truly great is the broad spectre of the program and the different tasks you can have as a volunteer. We have something to everyone’s liking and three weeks of fantastic experiences makes UKEN a cultural experience you do not want to miss! Dear fellow students! We have big ambitions for UKEN 18! Do you want to create history? Do you want to create something so big that Bergen takes a break from reality to experien-ce it? Do you want to be a part of organization where everything you do is based on making great experien-ces for others and having fun? If your answer to these questions is yes, I suggest you continue to read this magazine! To create such a comprehensive and big festival we are dependent on recruiting the best students there is, and there is more aspects in creative a festival then you might think! And it is the diversity in the different groups and tasks that truly make UKEN great – no matter what your interests or skills are, I will argue that you will find some positions that excite you. Two years ago I applied for the position as Group Leader UKEtent for UKEN 16 in this round, and it was one of the best choices I have made as a student at NHH so far. The role as a fUKENtionary in Revue Sound isn’t only exciting and challenging, but also versatile. In the run-up to the revue you won’t simply have one task, but a variation of tasks! Maybe the coolest perk is that you get a chance to play with the digital sound table, which has almost unlimited opportunities.
Congratulations! You have finally reached the icing on the cake; the UKE orchestra! If you are passionate about singing or playing an instrument, then you should apply to join the UKE orchestra and together we will be responsible for lifting the UKE revue to new musical heights. Through legendary parties and a London trip, not to mention the UKE revue itself, you will, together with your soon-to-be new best friends, embark on a musical and social adventure with alternately six sharps and three ♭’s.
Mainly we are there to give sound to the audience, but you shouldn’t forget that the participants and the orchestra need YOU to shine on the stage! There are no demands of prior knowledge to apply - you will learn everything you need to know along the way. The most important thing is that you are a positive person with a good mood who can withstand some long days in the Aula.
Nothing beats the feeling of when the stage curtain is pulled aside in front of a crowded aula. To give the revue the musical quality it deserves, we now seek bass, drums, guitar, woodwind, bowed string, and brass instruments as well as skilled choir singers. Dance gives the revue an extra something and contributes to giving the audience an unforgettable experience. You don’t need to dance any particular style, nor have considerable experience on stage to come to the audition. We’re looking for people who spread happiness, are enthusiastic and love to dance. Together we will create a tight-knit group who have lots of fun both in and outside the dance studio. Graphics is the group for you if you want to unleash your creative self and create something you are proud of. As a graphic artist you will, with other graphic artists, be responsible for all of the info material before and during UKEN. This includes everything from posters, banners and graphical elements for the design on sweaters. You will also play an important role in the formation of UKEN’s graphical profile. This is in other words an exciting and creative position. If you want to apply to be graphic artist it is desirable that you already have some knowledge of and experience with graphical software. We are seeking both a middle manager and fUKENtionaries. In Design you will get the opportunity to make UKEN18 more creative. The school is your canvas during UKEN; walls will be painted and ideas created. UKEN will be visible, and UKEN will be exceptional! In cooperation with Graphics we will transform NHH to a UKEgreen dream. Both UKEN18’s design profile and Orvil will be seen and felt, ensuring that the audience experiences party and happiness at every moment. And best of all? We decide the appearance and the execution.
