About UKEN 22 UKEN in Bergen is one of the largest cultural events in Western Norway and is arranged exclusively by students in Bergen. The festival will be held in March 2022, and the work is already well underway. The festival itself, and especially the work in advance, will be the most exciting and memorable thing you will be able to experience during your studies. You will make friendships beyond your year, be given responsibility, gain useful experiences, and last, but not least - you will have a lot of fun! At the heart of it all is the UKErevue. Its tradition goes all the way back to 1946 and it has since won several awards in the National Championships for student revues, most recently in March this year. Beyond the revue, UKEN can offer a wide range of activities, from large and small concerts and world record attempts to the Children and Elderly Days, and much, much more! Among the artists who have performed during UKEN, we find 50 Cent, Karpe, Backstreet Boys and Kygo. The magical atmosphere when some of the world’s biggest stars enter Aulaen or the UKEtent is completely indescribable, both for guests and fUKENtionaries.

Important Notice About the Application Process If You Want to Attend the Audition In this newsletter, you can read about all the groups that are hiring in UKEN 22’s third hiring round, and you may apply for up to three positions. Note, however, that if you want to be an actor or dancer in the revue or be a part of the UKEorchestra, then you must attend an audition. These positions in UKEN do NOT count among the three “regular” positions you can apply for. You can therefore choose to apply for three “regular” positions AND audition for an acting role, a dancing role or the UKEorchestra. In fact, you may audition for all three!

Nevertheless, there is no doubt that it is the diversity and the cohesion in the organization which makes UKEN so special. Here you will find a variety of tasks and responsibilities; there is something for everyone! We can guarantee that this experience will give you both memories and friends for life. Greetings from the UKEboss Dear fellow student! The UKEfamily is finally expanding! Today, we are 112 lovely fUKENtionaries. However, in just a few days, we will grow into an enormous family! We are already in full swing with the planning of UKEN 22, and it is now time that you join us and set your mark on the largest student-made cultural events in all of Western Norway. There is no doubt that UKEN is among the most fun and educational things you may do during your studies. So, what are you waiting for? Apply now for the chance to be a part of this amazing adventure! UKEN is by far the largest group in the student union. In 2022, with over 1000 fUKENtionaries, we will together create a festival for a lifetime with concerts, a revue, and numerous other fun events for people in all ages. Common for all of these positions is the want of enthusiastic students who are looking for a fun and valuable experience. I was in UKEN myself for slightly more than 2 years ago, and that was without a doubt the best choice I have made during my studies. UKEN is in fact so much more than just a few (amazing) weeks in March every second year!

As a fUKENtionary in the group Event, you will have the opportunity to make decisions and form the large events during UKEN 22. Together with a group of creative and party-loving fUKENtionaries, we will brainstorm, create, and carry out parties that the students in Bergen never have seen the likes of before. As Middle Manager, you will get the opportunity to have an impact on what events we will arrange and how they will be executed. 2 Middle Manager Live Video 12 fUKENtionaries Live Video Do you want to be in the middle of everything that happens in UKEN? Then Live Video is definitively the group for you. As part of the Live video group, you will see everything that happens in Aulaen. No prerequisites are required, so do not worry about that! All that is needed is commitment and the desire to learn, because this job is something everyone is able to do. As fUKENtionary in Live Video, you will be familiarized with a video camera, if you are not already. We in Live Video have the responsibility of making sure that everyone who attends UKEN’s events get to see everything that is happening on stage. Even those who came at the last second and has squeezed in at the back will be able to see the show from our live broadcast on the big screens in Aulaen. Our job is in short to capture all of UKEN’s highlights on camera!

INFO SECTION Everyone knows that it is the Info family that makes sure that the UKEN machinery runs smoothly, no matter what challenges one must face. In addition, we are looking for socially engaging and creatively driven fUKENtionaries with an eye for both detail and a good time. Prior experience is neither a requirement nor necessary, as I am primarily looking for a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to make sure that the UKE-Entrepreneurs 22 becomes a fantastic and fun group of people. Not only is this an extremely fun-loving group, but also the most mysterious until UKEN kicks off next spring. In the far-most corner of Kjelleren, behind closed doors and crooked sideways, there is a room that is usually closed. Here the fUKENtionaries gather to top of a fantastic evening hosted by UKEN. Your job will be to keep the party going, and to make sure that no soul leaves still feeling thirsty. Yes, fUKEN is indeed the fUKENtionaries very own bar specifically made for the after-party. In the months leading up to UKEN, we will, with the help of a few hammers and buckets of paint, create the world’s coolest bar-concept and atmosphere.

Yeah, some people think concerts are fun. Other souls prefer the revue. However, EVERYONE things it’s fun with a fantastically large party. And who rules the party? SALES!! If you want to you want to tap those beers and mix those drinks, prepare and serve great food, make UKEN 22 a safe event or manage the entire logistical operation behind the whole thing, the Sales Section is where you should apply!

Yes, I am talking to you who’ve just dug through your grandmothers old 80’s clothes in search of the perfect retro Levis, or you who just can’t get enough of themed parties because of the chance to find some new costume!

We are looking for just about every type of musical skill out there to be on stage and help create the music that will play in between sketches, for musical acts, and choiring, if you’re a singer, drummer, trumpet-, trombone-, saxophone-, or guitar player, if you’re pianist, percussionist or just a plain old optimist, this is where you should apply! Together we create one of the all-time great bands, where we will play everything from TikTok-songs and memes to funky big-band music! Come join us at the audition!

If you’re someone who feels that familiar itch in your feet every time the music’s on, then you must apply as dancer for the UKErevue! The revue will get together a group of dancers motivated, engaged and ready to dance the night away! This will be you that finds just as much enjoyment from simple choreographies as advanced dance formations. And speaking of enjoyment and fun, there really isn’t a lot out there that beats the bond between a close-knit dancing troupe!! To join us on this journey to an unforgettable and magical revue that will be remembered as one of the best ever, it is absolutely essential that you come down for auditions! Here we will require no prior experience, just an absolute love of dancing. Together we will reach even the people at the very back row, and get them of their feet!

As a member of Revue Sound, you will help find the Revues very own voice. You will become familiar with a lot of cool equipment, including a fancy digital mixing console with endless possibilities! Our primary mission is to make sure that the audience can hear what is happening on stage, the orchestra and the actors really need YOU, to shine up there. As part of Sound in the Revue Section, you will be able to follow and be a part of the transition from loose collection of ideas to a fully integrated and awe-inspiring show. There is no need for prior experience working with sound, that comes on the job! What matters is a positive attitude and a strong commitment to seeing the revue become as good as possible.

As a fUKENtionary in Costumes, you will be given the opportunity to find, buy, create, and put together everything that the actors will wear. You will also be responsible for making the actors ready for the stage(!). I will also need a sidekick, also known as a Middle Manager, who will closely with me in the months leading up UKEN 22. No prior experience is needed, only a sense of humour, creativity and wish to see the UKErevue look as good as possible (although it is of course a plus if you know what a sewing machine is). Together we will create a trail-blazing team of creative masterminds! See you around!

It might be the actors who sing the loudest, but it is the dancers, with their high kicks and quick, slick moves that raises the roof amongst the crowd. PR Section Well would you look at that, the PR Section is hiring! The PR section is the place where we take UKEjoy from the within the organization and spread it throughout the city of Bergen! On our watch, UKEN is going to be the biggest “Happening” of 2022, and we’ll make sure that it’s the chitchat around town, with every event a sell-out occasion! To make this happen, we will make sure we’re present on both traditional media as well as social media, all the while organizing promotional events both big and small everywhere in the city and having a ton of fun doing it! To help make this come true, the PR section will be one of UKEN’s largest sections, and include fUKENtionaries from across the spectrum of student-life in Bergen! 1 Middle Manager Editorial Staff 7 fUKENtionary Editorial Staff As a member of the Editorial Staff, you will help make sure that Bergen and Norway in general, not only is aware of UKEN, but that people are desperate to be there when the show kicks off in March! As part of this group, you will learn the power of persuasive language in the form of sales and marketing, in order to make sure that UKEN reaches everyone who should be reached, and that every event is a sell-out! Our work will focus on producing adverts and other forms of marketing campaigns in the form of lovely text, making sure to promote UKEN 22 the best way possible!
