HUISHIH SU PORTFOLIO
2017 RESIDENTIAL DESIGN Reading, UK A great experience gained in design and project management within a budgie of £7,000 This project is to remodel two main area, kitchen and shower/toilet room, in order to suit the increased family size and improving the quality of daily use of the rooms. The family members include a full time job dad, a full time mum, and 2 young children, age 6 and 4. Easy to clean and maintenance are requested. My design idea is to be more “functional”. Therefore, to meet different purpose of using the room during day and night.

PROBLEM Toilet / Shower room Size of 1.8 x 1.9 M, sits opposite main entrance door, and no window. This is a high frequently use area without natural light and good air circulation. Therefore, it result in a damp and dark environment to grow mold. Also, the unpleasant odder, after using toilet, stays longer in the room. Furthermore, it is not welcoming when enter the house when the door is left open. As children are too small, it is not easy for parents to help with their shower time. Kitchen Since the family size increased, especially with children, it causes traffic jam in the mornings and evenings. It even block traffic if a family member is using the kitchen. Also, the height of the kitchen work top and microwave is too heigh for mum, the main user.
Study area & storage cabinet Size of 2.2 x 2.5 M with windows around the wall. It provides plenty of light for the room. However, poor furniture style and lay out makes it difficult to us.

2009 GARDEN DESIGN Reading, UK My first garden design. A long shaped garden, 7.7 x 23 M, with trees and bushes along fence, in the back, creates a beautiful layer of privacy. However, there is no consideration had been given to the layout, light or plants in the original plan. This project is aim to create more activity space, and increasing time of usage from spring. The garden is east facing. My design idea is using “circles to break the long shape and create a informal family style garden.

STORYBOARD
2017 STORYBOARD Final project, Access to HE course at UCA I was particular interested in “visual language and composition”. Each frame was drawn to a size of 7.6 x 4.2 cm, then scanned for editing with Photoshop in order to print onto a A1 sheet.
