How to get there?

Iceland is easily accessable by air. During winter, Icelandic airlines have regular flights from major cities in both North-America and Europe. During summer, you will find flights from even more cities and with other airlines as well. Coming to Iceland is not a problem, and it shouldn't take too long either. Be aware that the nearest shop to Úlfljótsvatn is in Selfoss, about a 20 minute drive away. There is no public transport running to or from Úlfljótsvatn.

How do I book for my group? Booking your group's trip to Úlfljótsvatn is simple. The center staff can assist you in customizing your tour, or you can use one of our ready-made packages. For booking, please contact ulfljotsvatn@skatar.is To make sure you can reserve the time that best suits you, it's advised to make the booking as soon as possible. 1. Make a provisional booking for accommodation or camping Reserve accommodation or camping for specific dates. 2. Confirm booking with deposit From the time the provisional booking is made, you have four weeks to confirm the booking by paying a deposit. The deposit is equal to 1 night of camping/indoor accommodation for your group and is nonrefundable. For summer bookings made in the same year, confirmation is required within 10 days. If the deposit is not made within the given time, we consider the provisional booking to have been cancelled. 3. Book programme, meals, transfers and tours After the deposit has been made, you will receive a booking form for meals, tours, coach transfers and program activities. This should be returned no later than May 1st, and soon thereafter you will receive your itinerary. Keep in mind that full board is always included in indoor accommodation. 4. Pay final balance The final balance is due no later than May 1st on your visiting year. This includes all fees for camping/ indoor accommodation, meals, tours, program, coach transfers and other services. Should payment not be made within the given time, a 5% late-fee may be added to all items on the invoice.

Cancellation/changing

Our policy is that the deposit is non-refundable. The remaining balance is refundable up to March 1st of the visiting year. 50% is refundable up to 8 weeks before arrival. 25% is refundable 4-8 weeks before arrival. After the point of 4 weeks before arrival, we do not issue refunds. This applies to cancellation in full, cancellation of individual booked items (tours, catering, activities etc.) and a decrease in number of guests. After May 1st, a fee may be added for any changes made to the booking.

Allergies/dietary needs/other needs

If any participants in your group have food allergies or special dietary needs, please let us know at the time you order catering for the group. If an allergy is potentially life threatening, please clarify and discuss what measures your group has taken (i.e. medicine, training etc.). Finally, if any member of your group has other needs that you feel you might want to discuss with us, such as limited mobility, do not hesitate to contact us at ulfljotsvatn@skatar.is.

An adventurous visit to the 9000 year old, 364m long lava tube Gjábakkahellir, followed by a visit to the cave people exhibition. Helmets and lights included. Hot river (guided hike)

The area around Úlfljótsvatn is great for hiking, on and off marked trails. Ask our staff for advice Price: Free

Intro Hike

A short hike to the top of the small mountain next to the Scout Center. Our guide will tell you about the history and the landscape around you. A great way to immerse yourselves into the area. The hike takes just over two hours to complete. Distance: 3 km/2 miles. Dificulty level: Easy. Price pr. person: ISK 1000

Reykjadalur Hot River Hike

A great hike into the mountains, including the chance to bathe in a natural hot river. A great hike for experienced hikers. Group leaders should be in good physical shape and have mountain experience. Distance: 18 km/12 miles. Difficulty level: Moderate/Challenging. Price pr. person: ISK 5400

Please note: All our guided hikes include one guide. Group leaders are expected to assist during the hike. Additional guides can be booked for additional cost.

Glacier Walk (guided tour)

Hengill Overnight Hike

Starts out the same way as the river hike but continues to a scout hut for an overnight stay. A demanding but rewarding hike, only suitable for experienced hikers. Maximum group size 20. Distance: 25 km/15.5 miles. Difficulty level: Challenging. Price pr. person: ISK 11 600

Powering the Future

Rafting, paddling, fishing - these activities are sure to get you soaked! Raft building

Build a raft and sail it on the pond, competing with other teams! A 75 minute session. 20 participant maximum for each session. Price pr. person: ISK 1500

White Water Rafting

A fun and very popular tour! White water river rafting with a mix of serene canyons and exciting rapids. Difficulty level: 2+ out of 5. Minimum age 12. Price pr. person: ISK 19 000

Group Sailing and Paddling

Our fleet includes canoes, kayaks and sit-on-top kayaks. Group rentals include use of all available boats, a staffed safety boat, life vests and basic instructions. Group price is for 20 - 40 participants. Price for first hour: ISK 30 000 Price for each subsequent hour: ISK 22 000

Individual Boat Rental

Rent a canoe, kayak, sit-on-top kayak or row boat. Life vest included. Price pr. boat pr hour: ISK 1700

Hrútey Island Paddling Tour

First we will learn the basics of paddling on our small pond. Then we will paddle a kayak or canoe to one of the islands on the lake, go treasure hunting and enjoy a simple meal. 30 participants maximum. Price pr. person: ISK 9600

Are you into badges? You can use your stay at Úlfljótsvatn Outdoor and Scout Center to earn two achievement badges. Every person who spends half a day or more volunteering for the center, will get the Volunteer badge. So sign up for a service project (everything from cleaning the campsite to laying paths or painting a hut), help us make the center a better place and earn a cool badge! We also accept long-term volunteers. Check us out at www. workaway.info if you want to spend a season at our center. Another badge you can earn is the Honorary Citizen of Iceland badge. All you have to do is: 1. Learn 5 Icelandic words. 2. Try 2 different types of traditional Icelandic food. 3. Learn about a historic event that took place in Iceland. 4. Listen to the music of 4 Icelandic artists. 5. Spend at least one night at Úlfljótsvatn Outdoor and Scout Center. When all this is done, each member should post the results on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/usucamp), explaining the results, and then collect the badge from center staff.

Camp white nights Úlfljótsvatn Scout Center, Iceland • July 20th to 26th, 2018

What is it? A 6 day camp at the northernmost national Scout Center in the world. The first three days will be dedicated to camp life, with on-site activities and campfires. The next three days you will be able to choose from a selection of off-site tours and excursions*.

Who’s it for? Scouts and Guides from the age of 10 can attend the camp. You can come by yourself, with a few friends, a group or even with your parents. Scouts and Guides under the age of 18 must attend with either a leader or parent.

How much is it? Camp fee is ISK 50 000 per person. Included is campsite fee, 4 ready made meals per day, on-site programme and transportation to and from Selfoss (nearest town) before and after the camp. Camp fee payment is due June 1st 2018.

Where will I sleep?

In your tent. If you don't have a tent, you can rent one from the Scout Center.

Will I meet Icelanders? Icelandic scouts will take part in the main camp. Icelanders are quite rare, so you might want to bring a camera!
