A Welcome from mr gilby our Headteacher
Thank you for taking the time to find out more about Ullswater Community College. I couldn’t be more proud to be the Headteacher of such a wonderful and vibrant school. Our students are our greatest asset and we make no apologies for expecting the very best from them in terms of effort and behaviour. Our ambition for the school and students is simple - to be the best and to bring out the very best in everyone.
Hello from maisie & oli our head girl & boy
Each year, two students from Year 13 are chosen to represent the school and the students as Head Boy and Girl. They have responsibilities as part of their role such as speaking at events. They remember going through the transition process before starting in Year 7 and have experience of life at UCC. This year our Head Boy and Girl are Oli and Maisie.

our mexico expedition watch our 2019 film
A group of 23 intrepid explorers from Years 11-13 visited Mexico in July 2019 on an Operation Wallacea expedition. We slept in tents in a basic jungle camp for the first week and carried out vegetation, mammal, butterfly, herpetology (snakes and lizards) and bird surveys. We learnt jungle and camp skills and found out more about the Mayan culture. For the second week we travelled to the coast and had comfier beds in dormitory accommodation. We researched the coral reefs and learnt how to identify fish and coral. Some students dived every day, some undertook their PADI course and some snorkelled. We investigated how tourists are having an impact on the turtle population here.
ucc pledges
Our students work towards achieving all of their UCC Pledges - these reward being a ‘UCC’ student and represent nine different things that students are expected to do and achieve. Once one of the pledges is completed, students receive one of three Pledge stickers featuring Ully and Ulla, our school mascots. You can read about each individual pledge in the film above.
