The original statue was twice as high as the Statue of Liberty (circa 90m). The Colosso Mussolini was created to portray the strength of Italy. I depicted Hercules with Benito Mussolini facial features. The statue purpose was to dwarf the “Colossum of Rhodi”. The build was given by Renato Ricci to Luigi Moretti and the bronze statue to Aroldo Bellini. Only the head and the foot were completed, then WWII began. Archivio CIcconi is the sole owner of these extremely rare images.
