How to Apply STEP 1: Complete and submit your application. (See link above.) STEP 2: Submit secondary and/or post-secondary sealed official transcripts. Documents issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by literal English translations. For all post-secondary education taken outside of the United States, an official course-by-course evaluation is required.
• Official TOEFL score of at least 79 iBT or 550 pBT • Official IELTS composite score of at least 6.5 Undergraduate applicants who do not have the minimum TOEFL/IELTS score should contact the UMassD American Language & Cultures Institute at ALCI@umassd.edu. (Information about ALCI appears in this brochure.) STEP 5: Send an essay or personal statement of up to 500 words on a topic of your choice.

Location Matters UMass Dartmouth is located in a vibrant, coastal community and the campus is 21 kilometers from the beach, 48 kilometers from Providence, RI, and 97 kilometers from Boston. There is daily bus transportation to Boston and New York City directly from campus. Boston’s international airport is available by public transportation.
Dining There are 12 places to eat on campus, and some locations are open early and late for student convenience. There are a number of meal plans that can be selected. Just outside of campus are a number of restaurant options from fast food to sushi.
Living on Campus UMassD has 75 percent of first-year students living on campus. Campus housing is plentiful and is available for the duration of your UMassD studies. We have traditional residence halls, suites, townhouses, and apartments. The entire campus is wireless, and residence halls have free cable TV access and free onsite laundry facilities. Landlines are available for students who wish to have that service. And there’s plenty of parking.
Activities on Campus There are activities on campus virtually every day and night of the academic year. From intercollegiate athletic games and intramural sports, to visiting speakers and cultural celebrations, UMassD offers intellectual, social, cultural, and community service pursuits.
There is one entry/exit for the campus and a permanent, full-time Department of Public Safety that supports students, faculty, and staff 24/7.

Intensive English Program UMass Dartmouth’s American Language and Cultures Institute (ALCI) intensive English program offers courses at all levels of English, with a curriculum designed to prepare you to communicate in English-speaking academic, social, and professional settings.
